1g Throttle body or PORT and POLISH 2g tb?

Ive heard of larger tbs but port and polish, never heard of that for the tb, i could be wrong it may exisist, i woiuld get a 1g 63mm off ebay, and call it done.

Perfect time to ask this question. I'm about to buy a 1G TB port match my intake.
I think that it just has to do with the bigger opening on the 1G TB 60mm compared to the 53mm 2G TB. Even if you were going to port out the 2G TB you wouldn't get 60mm out of it.

Is there an issue with the flapper/butterfly not being close to the wall on these? There is so much room for air to get past when the throttle is closed.

So I can port the 2g throttle body, but only to 57mm..

But the 1g NT throttle body is 63mm, and the 1g turbo throttle body is 60mm..

What's the size of the 2g stock? And if I port the 2g tb what else do I need to port to make it work the best?

Will this affect my smog checks?

There is also a 63mm TB for the turbo. It's a rebuilt and bored 60mm TB.

I wouldn't waste my time on a 2G TB. The 1G's are cheap enough and bolt on, just a little attention to the intake manifold will make it flow a lot more. I've heard that the 2G TB elbow is the best to use since it doesn't neck down ass much as the 1G. The 2G elbow can also be ported but not that much bacause the walls of the elbow are very thin.

Dont waste your time with the 2g, I mean it's decent for the velocity 2g's were trying to achieve, but I think a 60mm or 63mm TB you can find, with no work whatsoever and a simple swap will be easy.

of coarse you can port out the 1g turbo tb to get it to 63.. but you can take the nt tb to about 65, or 66 if your very precise...

The bigest difference to the 1g nt tb and turbo tb is the neck.. the turbo tb has the bolt on neck that is the smaller version of the 2g's.. the nt tb has the neck built onto it that just comes straight out..And yes alot of 1g guys pickup a 2g tb elbow to use because it doesn;t slim down at the end..

the only thing i would do is port match the inatke mani.. i would personally rebuild it while you have it off and everything.. depending if you went with a 1g turbo or non turbo tb.. the turbo tb will be a direct bolt on..(i would use your 2g neck) the non turbo tb, you would have to get a coupler to join you uicp and the tb

You will need the 91 or newer 1G TB. You also need to take the 1G TB gasket and line it up with your intake manifold. make the marks on the manifold and use a dremil and make the hole bigger to accept more air getting let in by the 1G TB. The reason for not useing the 90Tb is because of the vaccume lines.

I don't know the answer to that. I THINK that since it came off a stock car and is stock spec, it SHOULD be fine. I ccould be wrong. When I get back to California in 4 months I'm going to do the conversion and I know I'll have to get my car smog checked.
Ask the shop where you'll be getting your smog done if they will pass something like that.

You could buy one from throttlebodys.com if they do the half shaft mod they can get a 60mm to 63mm. Its not a hard swap but you use the 2g tps. Make sure you have it set to .63v.

So I checked out throttlebodys.com, they are abit more then I wanted to pay right now, but I might get it in a month or so If I dont find anything soon.... altho I have few other questions.

Whats the Half Shaft Mod?

With my mods Do you guys think its worth me doing this?
(Bored to 63mm + half shaft mod = 65mm flow)
or just go stock 1gT TB 60mm?

<img src="http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m82/raullags/tb1g.jpg" border="0" alt="1g TB"></a>

can anyone tell me what year TB this is?

I cant find a 1g TD anywhere under 100 bucks, I cant afford much more then that right now, I;m hoping I can trade parts for parts...
