i just bought a 1g throttle body for my 97 eclipse gst, i have done my research on replacing it with my stock one, although i'm still little confused i think i could do it. my question is how much power am i going to gain. i have a k&n filter and an exhaust and type rs blow off valve. my friend who have a 330 CI replaced his stock tb for a bigger one with 5mm difference and the result were amazing, he gained so much power. i'm just hoping i will get the power.

The gains will be negligable at your current state of mods. The stock turbo just can't flow enough to make alot of power. Adding a larger tb to the mix won't help much because the stock 2g one is more than sufficient at your power levels. FWIW modding a turbo 4 cylynder is alot different than modding an na v8 from now on I would follow the upgrade guide not what your friend is doing to his car. He is trying to suck in more air, we are trying to force in more air.

This is a cheap and you will gain power. I just did my 1G TB on my 2G eclipse about 2-3weeks ago and the gain is amazing. Better top end power and the flow has increase :thumb:
You don't need a 1G intake manifold. Just port the 2G intake manifold to match the 60mm 1G TB and take your time.
I used the instructions from RRE. Here is the link http://www.roadraceengineering.com/2gtbswap.htm It looks long but is very simple just take your time.

1. Take out the battery and upper intercooler piping and unbolt the TB (Remember to have your stereo code in handy because when you reconnect battery, the stereo won't work without it)

2. Put the *NEW* gasket (Buy a new gasket if you haven't) of a 1G TB and do your perfect circle with a sharpie.

3. Get a piece of towel/cloth whatever you don't mind getting dirty cus inside is really REALLY dirty and stuff it inside (Make sure it covers all around) Don't worry it won't get stuck inside so don't be paranoid.

4. Get your dremel tool and port.

5. When you are done porting. Get a vacuum and let it suck up all the little metal pieces and then once everything is clean take out the piece of clothing inside the manifold. (Make sure there is nothing left inside the manifold)

6. Then just install bolt in the 1G TB and connect the vacuum lines and you are done. (You can also port the 2G TB Elbow a little bit if you want...I did) Reconnect the battery and upper IC pipe.

I have some pictures I'll attach. But is worth it and you don't even spend any money :thumb: Let me know if you have any more questions

Zach has a point. If you don't have enough supporting mods then you won't feel the gain and it might be too much flow for the T25. I have the supporting mods on my car so to me it was worth it. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

1G Throttle Body
Must be from a June '90 thru 94 car ('91-94 model year). The correct one has 4 vacuum connections on the top of the TB facing towards the passenger side of the car. The earlier '89-May'90 TB has two fittings on the top and two on the front side, this one will not work. You will re-use your 2G Throttle Position
Sensor (TPS). The 1G TPS has only three wires while the 2G has four. The Idle Speed Controller
is the same between the cars.

Here is another link of how to install it
