hey guys,

when i turn the key to see if i can start my car, nothing happenes, i made sure my starter was good and hooked up properly.

the car gets power and the fuel pump builds pressure, but when i turn to start i don't even get a click from the starter.
I am curious if i hooked the 1g cam sensor up wrong if this would accor?

i only have the 1 wire spliced into the new plug and thecrank sensor,,, u recon this is my problem?

If the starter isn't turning the engine over then the CAS has nothing to do with the engine firing up at this point. Check the voltage at the battery and make sure its 11 to 12v between (+) and (-). It sounds like that wiring to the CAS will be your problem once you get the engine to turn over though since there is more than just one wire that needs splicing...

:dsm:

okay hmmmmmm

well where are all the grounds on the engine suppose to be?

because i seem to only have 1 on the back of the IM

also: the large rectangle plug that plugs into the little thing that bolts to the IM around center ways,, does it need to be grounded? because right now it's just dangeling

how mnay grounds am i suppose to have and where?

yeah i have a black wire going to 1 of the starter studs, and alil black wire that plugs into it.

i only seem to have 1 ground on the car to the firewall and it attaches to the im.... is that all i need?

when i plug my battery in it lights up the brake battery and at light... even when you shut the door and walk off those lights stay on even with the key off and out.....

i'm confused

the battery is brand new and good we tested it to confirm... i added some grounds, and still nothing is happening anywhetre now.

i just tried jumping my sartewr connection,, 3 times... didn't realize they key wasn't on...

but the 4th time something near the fuse box poped, and it won't spark anymore.
what duid i blow?

and does the key have to be on for the starter to turn over when i jump connections?
because with the key off it did not try to turn over... it just sparked really big everytime.

ideas running through my head..

take starter off. check it again!

if nothing then i know.

but could my kickdown cable be out of place causing this?

my ignition switch also cause this?

or my ingnitition relay where ever that is?

good threads to reffer too.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-miscellaneous/217951-how-diagnose-no-start.html

one says the relay is on the firewall the other says under the dash near the radio..................

i ordered a gosh awfull expensive new starter.. to see what happens.

as i stuck a battery charger to my old one and it didn't do a thing.

is their a relay under the hood as well that deals with the cranking?

it's interesting though, this has me confuesed.

when i hook up the battery the brake light, the a/t light and and oil light all come on.

i turn the key and they all come on, then i take the key out and shut the door and those lights still stay on.
I don't understand that at all.
and ever since the first time i turned the key on, it purged the gas to the engine, now it doesn't....when i turn the key on, could it be because it's still under pressure?

i jumped the starter relay to a ground it got really hot and then i swapped it with another one, now my interior dash lights don't stay on and my beeper is now working, but the starter still isn't cranking at all, not even a click.
i jumped the new starter and it does work. i tried the whole bypassing the neutral switch thing and it didn't change anything...... it has made progress but still no crank... suggestions?

my mhi relay does not have a constant 12v power supply for some reason when the key is not in the ignition.. why? my engine 20amp fuse isn't blown either, nor are any others that i can see.

okay progress:

I have a starter cranking now. :D
On the starter relay in the dash you will see a small black wire with a tracer going into the relay, this is the opposite ground that completes the connection to crank the car,
We traced it out to the multi connector in the engine bay

From here the little black wire with the red tracer turns into a large blue wire with a green tracer. -
Ok now this wire runs to the oe radiator fan.

okay: my car has the oe fans removed when my boss had baught the car, he had ran a seperate relay with a all time power wire and ground, also he tapped into the white wire with a blue tracer in this harness for the signal wire to turn on the slim fans,
This leaves the ground wire for the starter totally unused: how the car use to crank with this setup...... i have absolutely no idea, but if you jump the large blue wire with a green tracer to the large black wire underneath it, it will crank over all day, who would of thought a radiator fan would keep it from cranking..

Anyways, i am still not recieving power to the ecu, so tonight i'm gona start checking the grounds at the antitheft unit and go try to trace any non powered wires , that should be their.
