I'm thinking about buying a good used stock Fuel Pump to have as a spare for my 1g turbo fwd. I've read that AWD + FWD ?assemblies? are diffent BUT Fp's are the same exact so just buy either one? Does that mean if I get an AWD fp swapping asemblies with mne is ok and woud be self-explantory? Are 2.0 N/T FP's same as turbos?

Btw don't need detailed fp installation instructions but can someone give the jist of changing one on a 1g FWD turbo? Do you need to lower the fuel tank and how hard would that be for a 1st timer if you had to do that while on a road trip but had the factory service manual and tools?

Everything you may need to do it is list in VFAQ under fuel. It's a tough job, as the bolts on the pump plate are usually rusted and break, as well as the fuel line connector usually twists and kinks the hard pipe that is part of the pump top plate. It's not impossible, but can end up being a really problem, if you break parts and don't have the tools or skill to fix.

Ok thanks. What about the difference in 1g turbo FWD + AWD fuel pumps? Are they identical but you need to swap assemblies before installing? If so is that easy to figure out?

the fuel pumps should be the same, its the assemblies that are different.

The AWD is not angled to fit into the tank. the FWD has a curve in the assembly.

Ok that's what I thought but if I buy a used AWD fp swapping assemblies with my FWD is easy + self explanatory?
