It's been a long time, but basically my front seats need to be repaired or preferably reupholstered. I have a rare set of seats apparently (Charcoal Gray leather. Not tan, not black.) and the rears are mint condition, passenger seat is fine ish, but the drivers seat has a nice tear in the bottom. The rest of the interior is mint, absolutely mint so I'd love to replace the front seats. Aside from getting extremely lucky in the junkyard, are there ANY decently priced reupholstery options for a 1G?

I know back in the day they used to sell seat skins, to where you could reupholster your seats yourself, but the only thing I can find like that is either only for 2G's, or ridiculously priced like in the 1000's. Anyone got any advice/links/etc?

Decent that depends on your wallet a shop could do it but again i would find some decent seats and call it done but thats me. They are over 20 some years old on these things cant find much without getting some aftermarket ones or pay someone to do a cloth job. Only option i can think of is to have them redone but thats some money unless its worth it.

Yea check out any upholstery shop. There are thousands of restoration shops. Im sure there are some local to you.

There's a local guy here that does really nice work. Redid a friends impala in white leather for like 2k. Dash, door panels, seats, everything. The entire interior. So id imagine two seats wouldn't cost much more then a couple hundred professionally.

Actually a friend just sent his gto seats out to have them done, i think he said $250 a seat, that was with some custom high bolsters and such too.

check out leatherseats.com redid my 3000gt vr4 with their stuff. amazing quality selection and customer service. took about an hour per seat to de skin the old leather off and reinstall the new covers. go to a local hardware store and get a set of hog ring pliers and a big box of hog rings

Pictures of said seats please.

My father-in-law is working for an upholstery shop and he did my complete interior. He did front/rear seats in real leather, sun visors, headliner, sunroof cover, door panels (not pictured) and hatch privacy cover. I'm thinking about selling these as complete set. However, I know the price I'm asking not to many dsm'er willing to pay. So I haven't post a for sale ads. Let me know what you think.

Lol. True enough, but my interior is absolutely MINT except for the damn front seats. Rear seats look and feel brand new, dashboard isn't coming apart at all, carpet isn't dirty at all and looks new, door panels aren't scratched, broken, or loose in any way, leather on them looks great too, center console is new looking and still has the sticker on it(with working coin holder!)...the passenger seat doesn't have any tears but is faded, and the drivers side is faded and looks fine except for the "X" tear on the bottom. :( If I found a seat of matching front seats for cheap I'd be ecstatic.

Can your uncle reupholster my front seats for cheap? :p

My uncle redid my front seats, tan leather and he put seat warmers in them too, which are amazing. Sadly enough, it cost over a grand, but it was well worth it to me. He said that he couldn't find a skin for it because its so old, so he had to make it from scratch.
The first pic was meant to show something else, but you can still see how awesome the seats are.

When my 1g was still on the road I had my interior redone locally. I had everything inside redone for $1000. They were even able to ad some pass through seat grommets for racing harnesses later on if I wanted to add them. I was really impressed with how it all turned out. It looked brand new when they were done. Best money spent on that car! LOL

One thing I want to mention though is as with anything custom get references or look at pics of work they have done before.

I love the tan leather in the 1g's. Best interior to ever come factory in a dsm.

So looks like I should just get ready to spend in the thousands either way. :p

Both of your interiors look great. I am sorely tempted to find some Plasti-dip that matches the stock leather color, and do a quick repair job myself and then plasti-dip it. They'll look brand new that way and I've seen plasti-dipped leather in the past and it looks great. Also holds up extremely well.

Plasti-dip leather? Never heard that, gonna have to do some googling. Those interiors are breathtaking, LOL
