Hi Guys,
I have a 1994 eclipse GS (non-turbo) FWD. Recently I noticed my rear passenger-side wheel was squeeking (it got to the point where it annoyingly squeeked almost constantly). I jacked the car up and tried to shake the wheel (hands at 12 and 6, also at 3 and 9) and it really wouldnt budge, so I figured it probably isnt the bearing.
After pulling the wheel off I checked by brake pads which were fine (plently of life left). However, the 'Dust / Grease' Cap or whatever the heck its called that sits in the middle of the rotor over the bearing was rotted through in the middle. Pulled it off and greased up the inside as much as I could and replaced the rotted cap (for now), drove it around for a bit and the sound is pretty much gone.
My two questions are:
I'm assuming the squeeking was from the outer bearing getting crap in it and the grease drying out for the rotted cap, should the bearing be fine now thats its been greased, assuming I replace the cap?
My second question is where the heck can I get a couple replacement grease/dust caps. I checked autozone and advanced and they dont seem to have one that fits my car (Although these look close).
If someone could give me the part number and/or where I can order a couple from I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Ozo
