Rear axle dust cover bent

The rear axle inner hub that goes into the diff has a dust cover. It got bent during shipping. What's the purpose of it? Is there a replacement for it? Or should I just try to straighten it?

Bend it back, double check it's not rubbing/grinding against anything after the install!
Or you could call the company you received in from and hope they help ya out!

Thanks. I didn't find a part number for the cover either. So i guess I will use a hammer or pliers.

Just bend it back like someone else mentioned just make sure it's not running anything.

What's the purpose of it?

It's just there to help prevent debris from getting into the rear diff. Like everyone says, just bend it so that it doesn't rub on anything.
