Ok, this is probably a really dumb question, but i searched and can't find anything.

Is there a way to remove the ugly PS bracket attacked to the head/exhaust manny on a 1g? I want to clean everything up really nice, and i just don't understand why it has to be there and or be so freeking huge. Please don't flame me for this, i just think it's disgusting and i want it to go away.

Yeah you can pull it off with no harm done. It's there as a support if you plan on pulling the motor. I always pull them off because it does look ALOT cleaner.

So i can just pull it? How would i go about that, because i HATE that thing there. And it would also make my manny removal and install MUCH easier.

Let me know!
You just pull the nuts off the exhaust manifold and the bolt (i believe it is) off the power steering side. And then it just slides right off. Don't forget to put the manifold nuts back on and the bolt back through the hole (just in case you ever want to put it back on).

I didn't know it was that easy to do. Are there any ill effects on the PS pump for this? Or is it just another one of mistu's useless pieces they put on these cars?

I'm going to try this wednesday btw. Also, does anyone know if silicone vac line can be used for washer fluid lines too? Or no?

Yup, that's all there is to it. From what I can tell, there aren't any effects on the pump for it since it's not really used for that anyway. It's just another way to pull the motor.

I would ASSume you could use silicone vacuum line for the washers but don't quote me on that. I wouldn't see why it wouldn't work though.

Yeah, it's not coolant or fuel, just water and alch.

I'm glad to hear i can do this i hate that bracket. Anyway, if anyone else has experience pulling that stupid thing let me know. And points for those who helped already!

Actually, does anyone have pics or links? i can't find any.
What exactly are you looking for pictures of?

Are you talking about the bracket that goes all the way around the power steering pump, or the one that connects to the left side of the pump and into the exhaust manifold?
