1g or 2g knock sensor

Hi. I've done some searching on here, but I can't find a definate answer. If I have a 2g eclipse w/ a 1g engine, do I need a 1g or 2g knock sensor? Thanks.

You match your knock sensor with your ecu not engine.
So if you still have a 2g ecu you need a 2g knock sensor.

What he said. The 2g knock sensor is solid. The 1g has a little hole in the probe to hear the knock. The ecu reads the knock different

Thanks, but when people swap out engines, does the original ecu stay in the car, or does a new ecu come with the new engine? Thanks

You keep the 2g ecu.
