Well if anybody has read my other post they know My brother bought a car with a hosed engine and we are on the quest for the cheap rebuild. We decided the old block wasnt worth salvaging either so we acquired a 90 6 bolt n/t engine. I have swapped the cams to make the new head the "turbo" head .. now on to the block. The last block was destroyed from busted valve in cylinder 3.. along with all of the pistons (intake valves slapped the pistons alot and ruined them all...previous owner did something very bad obviously) Anyways back on track..
I am having a set of 1g big rods milled to accept another set of 2g pistons i have... which is suggested and supported... I also know that it is accepted to build a 1g nonturbo block .. because the only difference is the knock sensor and oil squirters.... Now to my question...
I am not putting forged pistons and rods into the block... just stock 2g pistons and 1g big rods. I dont think this will present me with any problems... But i cant find any info on the boards where anybody has really done this..... most people using the 1g n/t blocks use forged internals... and most people doing the big rod /2g pistons use the turbo block ... atleast thats what it seems...
any confirmation will be greatly appreciated..
Thanks.
Ricky
