This problem is for a 1GA DSM/ 1990-1991 Eagle Talon / Mitsubishi Eclipse / Plymouth Laser / 90-91 Talon Eclipse Laser (these are tags for future searchers)

The side markers/corner lenses won't turn on with the blinker on both sides. I've checked/tested the relays, checked the fuses, I've even hooked up a test light to the positive wire of the socket, and they don't even get power when you click the blinker on. However, when you turn the headlights on, they get continuous power/stay lit up fully with the headlights. Am I remembering incorrectly, but I thought they were supposed to blink along with the front turn signals in the front lenses?

Second problem, my passing control relay went out, so I looped the wires and both pop-ups would flip up and down with the switch. Now randomly, the passengers side one will pop up but refuses to pop down. Why would only that one pop up but not back down? Again, all other fuses and relays are checked and verified. If the motor was bad, it shouldn't move at all.

I hate electrical issues.

Legitimately feel like deleting this. Future advice to anyone, if you want your problem solved just post a thread. Immediately found the answers to both questions.

So: The resolution to the thread is as follows.

1) The Side Corner/Marker Lights on a 1GA DSM aren't supposed to blink or flash with the blinkers in stock form. You can run a power wire from the front blinker bulbs and then they'll flash, but yeah. Normal operation.

2) Lubricate the pivot points and hinges with WD40 (or in my case, rust penetrant/PB Blaster). For whatever reason the motor was strong enough to push the light up, but not pull it down. So I sprayed the hell out of the hinges and pivot points with PB Blaster (thanks to a thread where @1990TSIAWDTALON / Marty commented recommending this fix, so credit to him), and now they both work fast and efficiently. No issues now. Hinges/pivot points were just dirty/rusty.

So yeah. Case closed. Doh. Wiring and electrical were all fine and working properly.

That’s how it goes 😂

That's the truth man.

The funny thing is, I'm so experienced with taking forum advice that I'll just do it even if I really don't think it'll work. Like, if someone offered me a bet of $500 that spraying the hinges/pivot points with PB Blaster would fix it, I would've taken that bet all day thinking that was an easy $500 for me.

This is why I don't gamble, and why I will always try out the advice given to me even if I really don't think it'll work. LET THIS BE A LESSON TO ANY/ALL FUTURE OR CURRENT DSM OWNERS ASKING FOR ADVICE!
