1G 1g pop up elimination

Basically I am building my 1ga right now. I have been trying to shed weight off and I am stuck between removing the pop up motors or keeping them. Has anybody done this and drove at night? What about with HID's?

If you're talking about removing the popup function and night driving with the headlights aimed through the OE plastic lenses, you'll lose a lot of light -- unsafe. There's a guy who removed the "clear" lenses exposing the headlights and his result seemed pretty good, though there's still less light than when popped.
