1g Intake Options

I looked all over on the forums and couldn't find anything covering this exact topic, so sorry if it has already been answered.

I have a 1991 Talon TSi and it is completely stock. I'm planning on putting on a drop in K&N filter, getting rid of the aircan and a Dejon Tool or similar intake pipe. Right now since I have no other mods, I don't need a 2g MAF or a GM MAS, but down the road i'm planning on upgrading to either one. My only problem is that I want to save myself money down the road and I don't want to buy a new filter because the drop in and intake pipe won't fit on the 2g MAF. Would it be best to go ahead and get all of that at the same time and if so, could you give me advice on filter size and intake pipe sizing. Thanks.

Go to Dejontool's website and keep scrolling down under intake pipes and there is a 1g k&n filter to 2g mas adapter thing. This is from their site:

Thanks a lot. That will save me money in the long run. One other thing, what size is the 2g MAS and the 1g MAS on the tube side (will a 1g intake pipe fit a 2g MAS) and how large is the stock turbo for when I order an intake pipe.

The 2g MAS has a wider opening than the 1g MAS for the intake tube. You could be able to take a stock 2g intake and cut the piece off that connects to the MAS and leave enough on to connect to a slightly chopped of 1g intake pipe I guess. The standard size Dejontool uses for intake pipes is a 2 3/4" opening for the turbo. This should work for the 14b. As always, adding rep points for answering questions is always appreciated

It will most likely be a while before you outflow the 1g mas. Id just pull off the stock aircan and replace it with a K&N that you can pick up from Advance for $45. You could even still get a hard intake pipe for your 1g mas and sell it when youre ready to upgrade. The 2g mas isnt a drop in, so unless you have an afc to tune it with, Id hold off.
