hello i have a 91' gsx with 147,500 original miles and its is stock everything but wheels, shift nob, and sound system, i recently bought a xs power fmic 28x12x3, long route pipeing 3inch and a intake pipe fits 1g mas 2.5inch sold here, NOT INSTALLED YET and i was wondering when to rebuild the engine, and how much boost can i run on the 14b now without problems.

help please. thanks

Well you shouldn't need to rebuild your engine if it still has good compression. It was a little quick to upgrade to a front mount, but everyone mods different. Invest in fuel mods first. Stock parts will do very well, just do all the maintenace. You already have a 6 bolt, but with no fuel mods the MAX boost I would sugest is 15psi. You will run out of fuel very quickly after that. Save up and finish your maintenace a.k.a. timming belt, water pump, balance shaft belt/removal. Do some research on stock cars and what mods people do. The search bar will produce quick resaults.

If you're planning on running just the 14b for a while, the fmic can either help or hurt. I'm assuming this is used for a DD car?
The fmic will not have the heat soaking problem the stock smic will have (like pulling uphill). However, running it towards summer time, it does block airflow to the radiator. So the car then is more likely to heat up.

I would start doing maintenence as your first step. A reliable car is always good :)

yah i wanted a front mount so i could upgrade to the big 16g turbo afer i install the fmic andthe intake, i wanna run the 14b for a while. what fuel upgrades do you have and would u recomend. by the way where and how much is a rebuild for the 4g63t engine

i do all the work on my car. change fluids and all. i check oil every day. change oil every 3000 or less depending how i run it, and i use gtx oil. i try not to run it hard because of having 147,500 on it. im in washington so it doesnt get to hot round here so i should be fine with the heating of the car.

I'm talking, check sensors and clutch master/ slave cylinder. Make sure the radiator hoses are all good. Go through wiring.

At least that's what I spent the first week with my car doing. You'll be amazed at what you can find that a previous owner is stupid enough to do *cough* sterio wire for fuel pump *cough*

I'm running a 255 and 750 injectors. You may want to start looking into fuel management programs. Even if it's something simple like maft/ safc. What I run is Ostrich/ TunerPro RT software. My car has 163xxx on it right now and still running strong. Bottom end is still original.

Before you even consider turning up the boost you need to make sure that you do not have any boost leaks and that your fuel system is in top notch condition i.e. fuel filter, O2, and such. 14b's are very capable street turbos but lack upper end power.

ok guys thanks for the info and ill check all my hoses and things. no boost leaks......and im getting horsepower in a box maf-t so i will be running a 3inch gm mas. intake mounted......but im doin it my self so i need help finding the wiring guild to hook it up.......and how do i hook up my stock blow off valve to my new fmic and pipeing.
