Well I'm in deep shit and I have a drag race on Friday, I've done the qualification and it was my first launch with 24.5 slicks, my car is very very high moded which means I've everything racing for Eclipse but it's FWD, I live in Bahrain, we don't have dyno I have two type of wide band gauges, annovate which I never used and AEM wide band which I used to tune my Eclipse, my Eclipse has fp3065 turbo with 27 psi c16 race gas please read my old post because I don't want to post all my parts every time I post a thread.
I have 1g engine on 2g 1997 Eclipse, I was trying to retard the timing because the timing was like 24 at 4th gear near the red line with c16, I've heared It should be 19 degree i guess my timing is very high because I have AEM fuel rail+660 cc injectors+ MAFT 3.5 inch+walbro pump, the reason my timing is advance because I've to lean it out to reach good a/f ratio with c16, I was trying to tune for less than 11 or 11 flat but the car doesn't seem very fast so someone which is named as Kyle asked me to make it high 11 or 12 falt if possible, and I made them close to 12 as much as I can, everything was fine untel i made the timing light, the timing was like 13 to 14 at idle, I thought the timing of 2g with 1g CAS should be 5 degree +3 to +5 for pump gas, it wasn't my car by the time my friend installed the engine, he made it close to 8 degree, and I think I was tuning on 13 or 14 timing which reads the same on pocket logger.
I decreased the timing in idle to 8 degree and the rpm was close to 750, actually it was littel bit higher like 900 because of 272 hks cams, I don't know if this does effect the timing!?
I know the car should warm till 212 F, the fans should reach to open and close and I should check the car when the fan doesn't work+ no any other power working in the car.
I've read http://www.roadraceengineering.com/1gcasin2g.htm
But didn't understand one thing
It does says my timing should matchup the pocket logger timing and when ever I change the timing by CAS the timing in pocket logger remain the same, the timing in pocket logger was like 13,14,15 moving I think this is because of the HKS 272 cams not sure actually.
Do I have to make the timing 5 degree+ 3 degree more by using CAS but this mean the timing will be 8 degree on timing light and on pocket logger like 14 degree this is a big difference.
Or should I make the timing the same as the pocket logger says and this mean they will read the same.
My car isn't fast as it was and I feel all the tuning I've made I should change, we tried to switch the timing back as it was but we weren't able to do that, I'm totaly lost and I only have one day.
Someone on AIM asked me I can lower the timing by 3 or 4 degree by adjusting the timing by CAS so i get less timing at higher rpm, but the pocket logger will still shows like 25 degree which is 21 because I've decrease the timing by 4 degree.
Can anyone help me please and answer my silly questions and make it simple as much as you can.
(1)What is the base timing of 2g Eclipse?
(2)What is the timing should be with 1g CAS on 2g Eclipse?
(3)Should the timing on pocket logger match the timing on timing light engine?
(4)I'm running high boost like 27 psi and wanna turn it like 30 psi with good launch hope I can do high 11, should I decrease the timing by 3 or 4 degree insted of advancing the timing so when the pocket logger reach like 25 degree it's close to 22 which is close to 19?
I'm trying to understand but I'm totaly lost, fast response please.
This is my time slip and the video is with kpt4321 which is Kyle, he is offline on AIM or I would ask him, he helped me alot of answer alot of silly questions
I tried to view my time slip but it says too large
