I have read a lot of "controversy" regarding bov venting to the atmosphere. I want to vent mine, for my own reasons, but I don't want to change from the 1g. Is this possible? Any help would be appreciated, and no flaming, please.

not sure if anyone else said this already, but that BOV u got in the pic is the Turbo XS H-34, if u want to vent to atmosphere, id recommend gettin the Turbo XS h rfl. that vents to the atmosphere. just my 2 cents.

I posted awhile back about an RFL BOV that I was given, and if it would work on my DSM because it vents to the ATM without a choice...

Well after performing a few mods over the weekend, one of which was to remove the air can completely instead of just hacking it up. I made my own intake pipe. Well I experiemented with the ATM and it really sucked ass...Sounds nice...no power, engine stalls. Hooked it back up, works great.

Took it out for a spin lastnight and with the windows rolled down I could hear the BOV between shifts. Checked the connections, and everything was correct. revved the engine with a friend listening and he said "The sound is coming from the air filter." So I listened and it is....

My question is...
Since I can actually now hear my BOV while venting back into the intake track through the filter, is there a way to hook up an RFL BOV and vent it to the intake track as well?

Benefit: I'll still have a wicked sounding BOV without inefficiently venting to the ATM.

Has it been done? Any ideas on how to do this, cause the RFL doesn't really allow for a dump pipe to be attached to it...

Thanks

I wouldn't really know how to vent that into your intake but another route is you can get the the Type-H. It's an RFL without the horn that vents into the intake. Ask around and people may want to trade.

yea, i dont think there is a way to vent back the RFL. looked how its shaped! its a freakin horn, heh. maybe you can somehow ghetto rig it and make your own piece to fit in that horn without having any leaks. but other than that you can probably get what's mentioned in the post above, the type-h. that one you can recirculate, and since its turbo-xs i think they all have teh same flange.

Outstanding gentlemen.
Sounds like a plan to me I guess I should start dealin out the part on the classifieds for trade.

Thanks alot!
But isn't the Type H an ATM type BOV too? that is what the manufacturer states... I see less of a way to hook that one up...what about the Type H34?

GST How are the horns interchangeable? I don't see any way for that to happen because the bottom half of the valve looks to be solid. Now..I don't have one and I'm only looking at pictures..but if there is a way to get the horn let me know how.

Just wondering who vented to the atmosphere and didn't have problems...i know this topic has been beaten to death but i just wanted a poll on it.

Please tell me what bov you are using.

I vent!!!!

TURBO XS RFL
I have a 1995 I have herd that the 1995's dont have problems venting. I know alot of people with 95's and no problems, just a thought!

I don't vent, and I use a modified 1G BOV on both cars. As for sound from the BOV, I have been told that it sounds pissed off under a fair amount of boost and has a "sharp whistle" under light boost normal driving conditions.

I used to vent with no problems with my HKS SSQ BOV, but I never did any logging that way and was still running the stock turbo, so I don't think a difference would really be that obvious on that setup. I now recirculate it, though, and it runs great. :thumb:

i vent with an hks ssqv, hacked mass, and no other mods that would affect it.

I vent with an Apexi BOV. Sometimes when I let the clutch in (and the BOV opens) without pushing the gas right away, the car will stall. When I'm at half throttle and then back off a slightly while boosting, the BOV will open a little and cause the car to buck.

venting like a mofo, and loving it. no problems,oh i think i have a VPC though
