I have a 95 gst right now with a 6 bolt swap in it. I bought a 96 GSX chasis that I'm gonna put the 6 bolt motor in. The 6 bolt motor came out of a 1990 gsx.

I bought the tranny from a guy that said he got the transmission rebuilt by Cedar Rapids transmission here in iowa and that when his son assembled the motor, 5 minutes later they melted a hole in a piston and parted it out. He told me he don't remember the year but he said it was the flip up style headlights.

I picked up the tranny and transfer case for 450 bucks. The guy threw in the 6 bolt block with 3 brand new pistons that was rebuilt by sparry engines he said. He also threw in a brand new clutch and pressure plate and a new timing belt and an old centerforce clutch. The cylinder looked like it could be honed.

My question is, can I use the tranny and transfer case in my 2g with a 6 bolt swap? My understanding is that the mounts for the 1g trannies are on the back of the block. Since I have a 1G engine, I'm sure I have the spots to bolt the mounts to. What about the cable driven speedometer as opposed to the speed sensorin the 2G. Appreciate the help.

The engine will work, the transmission will not. It doesn't have the bolt holes for the front and rear roll stops on the transmission. You would also have to fabricate the passenger side mount bracket.

What do u mean by roll stops? The dowels? It seems my only prob would be the mount. My motor and tranny should bolt together just fine.

No, the 1g trans will not work in a 2g car. There are 4 mounts holding the engine and transmission in the bay. On a 1g, there are three mounts on the engine and one on the trans. On a 2g, there are 3 mounts on the trans and one on the engine.

I coulda sworn i had seen somewhere that it could work. The guy even put in the ad that it would fit an 89 to 99 motor. Sucks because no one around here is into dsm's so trading is out of the question.

So will this transmission fit a 1990-94 1g or is the 1990 transmission different? How would I know which one I have if they are different? I'm trying to sell it for about as much as I picked it up for. Did I pay too much for it and the transfer case? I think junk yards usually want 650 just for a used one.

IT will fit all 1g awd cars. You will however need the shifter cables and shifter from a 90 if it is put in a 91-94 if you want it to shift right.

I have a question? I have a 95 GST with a good running 4G63t but i found a cheap 91 GSX with only a tranny in it. I was wonder would my motor fit into it, if not what could i do to make it work?
