1g auto to manual swap

ive searched everywhere and cant seem to find a 1g specific swap guide . ive found a ton of 2g but no 1g. jw if theres any differences. its a 91 awd i have the trans out of a 90 pedal assembly shifter cables and shifter any help would be great.

Since you are awd i believe you need to swap the differential to a 5 speed one and you would need a 5 speed tranfer case.I dont think you can use the automatic stuff because of the gear ratios or something.

I second the advice on the transfer case swap. Auto T cases only work on the auto cars.

i did this swap its easy. the auto t case will not fit ## std trans forsure. however, im not sure but i thought there was some diff gearing in the rear ends in diff years again not 100% on that part tho.

You do need to swap to a manual diff and tcase.. Don't forget to get a tcase with proper spline count to tranny as well..

i know you have to match the trans and tcase so im buying the trans and tcase together. the diff thing had me scratching my head and the wiring portion of the swap i know i can pull the tcu but am i better off finding a 5spd ecu or just swaping some wires. ive got a gm maft on it with 450 blue tops.

For the blue top injectors and tcu question..You can pull the tcu..You will also need the 5speed ecu and fpr..If not the car will run rich..You basically need a donor awd 5speed car..

parts needed for the swap should include:

manuel trans
matching tcase
manuel lsd rear diff.
clutch pedal assembly
shifter assembly
manuel engine bay wiring harness and ECU (easier then re-wiring)
clutch master cylinder and lines

Swap is pretty easy if you have all the parts to do it all at once. I wouldnt strip your car until you find all the parts first. Should be able to have it done in a day or two.

what id the difference with the rear diff in the auto vs manual? i never swapped out my rearend when i swapped out the auto. i robbed parts from a 92, engine, manual trans and tcase. then put it in my blown up 91 auto tsi. ive put 10,000 miles on it since.

The rear diff ratios are different..I have heard you can blow the diff if you don't change it to a 5 speed diff...

But if you didn't break one, then that might not be correct..
