1g 7 bolt pistons??

i got a 1g 7 bolt block in my car and i just got a 6 bolt block and i want to do the 6 bolt block with 7 bolt pistons, so im wanting to know is there any difference in 1g 7 bolt pistons to 2g 7 bolt pistons??

no i got a 2g gst and im in the middle of building it... but i got a 1g 7 bolt block in the car and i was wanting to know if i can use the pistons in my 6 bolt block build!!

You can but it will be pointless. You will have to have the small end of the rod opened up 1mm and narrowed which will likely cost more than buying a new set of npr 6 bolt pistons.

The 1g 7 bolt head tho..Not the same as 2g 7 bolt head.It does have the large 1g intake ports. Not possitive if it's the same design for velocity as the 2g head. If someone could verify that,It would be great to know as well.

The 7 bolt parts are all interchangeable as far as crank, rods and pistons. The pistons are different on the 6 bolt, 1g 7 bolt and 2g 7 bolt. The blocks are different from 1g to early 2g and late 2g. The 1g blocks have the oil squirters in the same location as the 6 bolt and one less hole for the bellhousing. The early and late 2gb blocks are the same other than the thrust bearing design. Early 2g uses a thrust bearing that is connected to the main bearing. The late 2g block uses a thrust washer that is separate from the main bearing. As far as the heads, they are the same on 1g 6 bolts and 1g 7 bolts.

The pistons are even different on both 7 bolts..From a manufacture perspective it does not make sense..

The more parts that are the same, you spend less to manufacture..Blah blah..

The 1g 7 bolt pistons won't effect the compression. They are the same compression ratio as the 6 bolt pistons which is 7.8:1 . 2g pistons are higher compression which is 8.5:1. You will have to spend around 100 bucks to have the rods machined just to fit the 2g pistons to the 6 bolt rods.

IF they are 2g 7 bolt pistons than yes, those pistons make 8.5:1 in a 6 bolt or 7 bolt. If you are running 1g 7 bolt pistons than you will have 7.8:1 just like the 6 bolt pistons. The bore, stroke and deck height are the same in both engines so the compression will be the same with the 1g 7 bolt piston regardless of what engine it is in, same with the 2g piston.

IF you want 8.5:1 compression than yes you will need 2g pistons. But as i said before you will have to have the rods machined for them to fit. For what it's worth i would just run a set of npr 6 bolt pistons. The difference in compression isn't a real big difference.

No. The is about a 6bolt block. You cannot use 6 bolt rods in a 7 bolt block of any year.
