Lots going on recently. Picked up the rest of the parts to build the head; valves, Kiggly race springs and retainers, guides, big bore lifters, JMF SMIM, but the car gods have really shined down up on me recently.

Was able to come up on a Morrison Fab T3 manifold for a great price. Comes with a Tial MVR, and I coupled it with a BEP .70 T3 housing. Waiting on Justin to rebuild an HX35 for me and we are gonna start getting it all going. Super excited that it's all come together so easily.

Next major stuff is tackling the interior and getting it to the body shop for paint. Then drop the motor in and tune on E85.

Was also able to get a great deal for an intercooler from a member on here (thanks Spoolinpos!) Cleaned it up and gave it a few click clacks of high heat paint. Looks brand new!

Does anyone have a good photo of routing for the piping on the driver side? Passenger side is pretty self explanatory.

I used the photos from this thread:

Oh, and youll get an inconvenient surprise when you try to put it together if youre not aware that there are two different styles of J-pipes. The 1G style pipe come down on passenger side, the other style that comes with short route intercoolers comes down on the driver's side.

Being it's that's a T3 housing it won't really matter since it would all be custom piping right?

Does the pipe come straight out the front on the t3 instead of up and out? its been along time since ive been around turbos other than my own, so i dont really remember how it hooks up. Not trying to send you in the wrong direction by guessing.

Small but big update.

Got an HX35 rebuilt by Justin, he went above and beyond with a billet wheel and to say I'm happy would be an understatement! Slight dry fit with the manifold and exhaust housing and I'm ready to finish this thing.

Going to be dropping the car off for paint this week. Dropping all the short block parts off to a machine shop for the build, and we are off to the races.

Big moment for the build. She was hauled off today to the paint shop, and I was lucky enough to get in touch with a popular custom painter here in town thru a friend of mine. The price was right, and he included the engine bay and jambs, so it's a full on repaint with undercoating, and he offered to throw in some custom work if I wanted it. Super excited for this to come back in three months and finally throw everything together.

I also had a new carpet kit delivered and dropped the headliner off at the upholstery shop. We may very well get this thing running by Christmas time.

More goodies showed up from the brown truck today. CcDesignFab downpipe and intake pipe. I was a big fan of this guy's work on socials and he did not disappoint. This downpipe is literal art, unfinished on one side until I figure where the turbo exhaust pipe is going to end up.

Big shout out to Jose Gonzalez out of Utah, the member here doing the shift boots. I shipped him my sun visors to get redone, and he was also able to hook me up with the matching fabric to get my headliner peices done as well. Came out fantastic. His work is great and his turnaround time is insane! Can't recommend him enough.

Couple of updates. Car is going into primer next week. Most bodywork has been done and just awaiting a few final decisions on my end. Excited to start getting it back together.

Also want to give a huge shout-out to Frank (Awdmonster1904 here on tuners) who helped me source a machine shop and get the engine built. Thoroughly excited to have gotten this home and tucked away. Now just waiting on the car and get started dropping it in. It looks good!!

Dry fitting the turbo to manifold, got the Morrison turbo drain bolted in, and a JMF billet fuel rail. My son finally turned a wrench and got some stuff torqued down. He was excited ☺️

Anyone have an idea how many ft-lbs to torque the turbo to the manifold?

So the motor is basically ready to drop in. Changed the springs out in the wastegate and fitted everything together. I'll need to take the car to my fab guy as soon as it's installed to get the downpipe finished and get the wastegate to recirculate. It looks good, I'm excited to be this far in the build.
