I plan on keeping it a streetcar with a goal of about 450whp. I have been stockpiling parts for a while now and just blew my head gasket. I'm not financially stable (currently in college without a job) so I think I'll just do the maintenance for now and install my hks 272s while I'm in there. I want to save up for a built 2g head from curt brown and also build my spare 6 bolt. I still have to figure out what to do about the transmission at that power level and also decide if I should run my 68hta that I bought as an impulse buy or maybe invest in an fp red. Hopefully, by summer, my car will be where I want it or at least going in the right direction.

Tough to do when you're not financially stable. But it sounds like a good plan. Hope to see some updates here in this thread as you go. ;)

I have the same exact car and am also a broke college kid LOL. Years later I'm still not giving up and trying to get this car going. Don't give up! But also, keep your priorities in check and also your sanity. It wasn't until I started to focus on my personal life and get out more (hiking, fishing, other activities) that I realized sometimes these cars can take away a lot of our happiness as we try to convince ourselves that they keep us happy. This only doubles when you don't have the funds. Trust me on this! You will ALWAYS find something wrong or out of line with these especially if you're new to modifying. This was my first car so maybe you're a bit more experienced. But nonetheless they'll humble you LOL. Good luck and I wish you the best!

Appreciate advice! Definitely still have a lot to learn when it comes to these cars and even cars in general (this was my first car too). If I'm being honest, I have been doing the exact thing you described. Anytime I had the chance to buy new parts or even work on it, I'd take it, usually sacrificing something in the process. I can't say I have any other real interests though, not even a girlfriend, so I guess that's something LOL. It's been that way for the last year, until my head gasket blew in December. Just to make it clear, I don't neglect my responsibilities like school that much (I don't study as much I should sometimes) and also wouldn't mind a girlfriend, but I will say that my car is a highlight in my life that motivates me to at least do something. Right now I've been focusing on reselling parts from picknpull to help me be able to afford the maintenance items I need to get the car going again, hopefully soon. I know I have some ambitious goals but I think I can manage, if not by summer, maybe the end of the year;) Also pretty cool that we have the same car :hellyeah:

Dude, I kid you not you sound EXACTLY like me a few years ago! Lol
Not having a girlfriend is a GREAT first step to successfully finance your car LOL. What's crazy is your car went through exactly what mine did. Well.. kinda'.. I thought my headg blew but it ended up being my valve stem seals.
But yeah, I spent every penny I saved from work and put it in my car. This was when I lived with my parents of course. Now I live on my own and have a girlfriend so it really Rob's me of progress on the car but it's slowly moving again!

You're on a great track and being that the car is the highlight of your life and keeps you going (like when I would save every penny for my car and lived with parents, no girlfriend), that's great. Just be sure to take out some time for yourself and travel a bit or hangout with the friends and make some memorable moments. Or else you'll end up like me with a boring story of how I spent 3 years only working to save money to put into a car that still isn't properly set up LOL

    Good luck!
