Last time I posted we were rebuilding the engine in our 99 eclipse. Put 1000 mild miles (no turbo spool-ups) on motor then started adding higher rpms (4500) and allowing turbo to spool. Even at that rpm was amazing difference on a fresh motor. However the tranny didn't agree. On the 4th pull to 4500rpm, it blew. Barely had enough power to get back home and called friends to push it into the driveway. We did a full master rebuild with Raybestus packs and threw in a shift kit for fun. Ever since then we have been plagued with no 3rd and reverse gears. The trans is a f4a33 and is currently out of the car for the third time. There has been a few nicked seals and a bad selinoid the second time it was pulled, but nothing and I mean nothing physically wrong with the tranny the third time. We have pulled codes but all that shows up is for the catalytic converter (cause it's not there anymore). Has anyone experienced this? If there was a problem in the tcm it would surely show up on a scan tool right? Any help is appreciated, trannys are not my favorite creatures to play with. Too many teeth.

It's all good. I wouldn't be able to pay for it for another two weeks anyway.

Just called Mitsubishi, they discontinued everything for the 1999 and older Eclipse so they can't help us anymore. Another contact gone, but I have a cousin there who is willing to part with his spare valve body for a cheapo $50. He sold us this car originally and has been a huge help ever since. Only because he has a gsx and wants to run them down the track some day. Fair is fair, cheap parts in exchange for fun later, I'm sold. Should have it next Saturday with luck.

Well, we finally got the car rolling under it's own power. Long story short, after many attempts to get it going with all the performance parts, we switched out the valve bodies and the stock one works. Haven't had time with Thanksgiving & family to open up the performance valve body yet, but I'll post the results here when it happens. Now we have to find a massive oil leak (1qt in 30 miles but only seems to happen when under boost) and replace a new rubber harmonic balancer with an aftermarket one. This new one we got just before the motor rebuild, has 1300-1500 miles on it with 800 easy miles for motor break in, and it's already showing signs of ripping all the way around. One of these days we hope to keep it from tearing itself apart, damn horsepower anyway. :D
