1998 GSX Street/strip Build up

Little bit of an update considering its been a while. Took it to the track and went 11.5x @ 128 on street tires with a 1.9x 60ft. Clutch dont like the power launching it with the slicks on it, Tried that ended up trapping the same but the ET ended up being 11.6x a couple of times. Turned the boost up to 30-31lbs and retuned made 561WHP 457TQ. Brought it back out to the track and ended up bending a couple of rods. Pulled it all apart and ordered some new parts. Got a good deal on some Scat H beams, and ordered up a set of custom JE pistons. Block will be back from the machine shop today so will start assembly right away.

Crank all polished, plugs pulled and oil galley's cleaned.

This is just a nice one to watch, 06 Evo I built and tuned. Made 640WHP on a mustang dyno, went 10.1 @ 143 on its first outing after a year. Me driving doing a quick 1-4 pull

XTD 6 puck unsprung disc and 2300lb Pressure plate. Holding the power fine other than the launches at the track the pedal likes to stay down from the centrifugal force.

Hey man that is one awesome car! Amazing work! I have a 97 GSX in St. George(southern Utah). About an 1 1/2 hour from ya. I'm in Vegas weekly and Im wondering if you'd be interested in doing some work and tuning on my car? I just don't have the time or the expertise I guess haha.
 
The block is a 99 split thrust 7 bolt with a 2006 evo 9 Crankshaft. Its the block that has been in the car since I rebuilt it the first time with evo pistons and rods.

Cylinder head done. Bolting the rest of the motor together today and going to tow the car to the shop and finish it up tonight!

Its all in and running. Alternator took a dump so replacing that today.

Its got a 67mm 37R on it now too..

Dang, that's a tight fit! You are using the 2.0L 4g63, right? (not a 2.3L stroker etc) This thing should have some serious punch!
 
Yes it is a 2.0L with a 5.906 rod length.

Today put the new alternator on, made a dump tube off the turbo, and an intake pipe.

Hi devin, thats a nice gsx engine build and that car is a beast., im new to the dsm scene and recently bought a white clean gsx. Im currently stuck at stage 1 for the moment cause of payments but will get there shortly. Im here in the bay area bought originally from vegas. Used to do alot of drag races out at industrial back in the days but currently need more mods and technical know how on my car. Im planning to take a vegas vacation on july 20 thru 29 and get some car work done there.

Excellent thread and build Devin! Great motivation and proper "show how", very excited to see what's next. I also have a question, after you bent a rod and rebuilt the engine, did you resurface your cylinder head? I didn't catch if you did or not. Thanks and good luck!
