Greetings DSM Tuners,

I am having a bugger of a time ordering the correct replacement passenger radiator fan assembly for my 1998 Eclipse GSX with manual trans. I've already received two fan assemblies ordered online and both came with a different type of electrical connector plug from the original.

In particular, the connector plug on the vehicle side looks like the following. Note the keyways for alignment are on the opposite side of the plug from the release clip:

However, the radiator fan assemblies I've received have the following connector. Note the keyways for alignment are on the same side as the release clip:

Tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything mentioning the different types of fan connector plugs. Interestingly I did find this post regarding a 1997 GST which appears to have the same connector as the fan assemblies I've received, but different from my 1998 GSX:

Furthermore, the replacement fan assemblies I've received have plastic fan shrouds whereas my original fan shroud is metal.

Is the 2G GSX w/ manual trans known to have different radiator fan connectors from the other 2G models?

Any recommendations on where I can source a replacement passenger-side radiator fan assembly with the correct connector plug?

Thanks in advance!

-Ryan

To add to my confusion, the Sheridan Engineering page states "The NMWP 4F connector is available with the keying slots next to the latch(black), or on the opposite side from the latch(gray)."

So it seems maybe my GSX has the gray type connector and all of the replacement radiator fan assemblies are coming with the black connector?

Is there possibly any diffeerence between the manual vs automatic trans fan assemblies and/or connectors?

I can't answer your connector question, but if your old shroud and fan blades are reusable, and the motor just stopped working, have you thought about just a new electric motor? That's what I did for my 1g.
Alternatively, if you have the old fan side connector, have you thought about de-pinning it and swapping plugs, or even splicing the old onto the new fan assembly?
