after calling around to a few machine shops this is more expensive than I initially thought my first quote

hot tanking 80
resurfacing 155
honing 176
crank polishing +86
-----------------------------
$497

2nd Quote

hot tanking 205
resurfaceing 125
honing 48
crank pollishing 65
______________________
$443

The second option being more reasonable minus the hot taking I'm going to go with them and have my buddy that hot tanked my transmission hot tank my block for 35 bringing the total to $273
Is this a fair price?

I did some electrical wiring today I am relocating the fuse box in the right hand side underneath the passenger headlight. And moving the battery to the trunk i am having trouble uploading pictures so I will leave you with these three for now.

Today I removed the cigarette lighter and installed my boost gauge in It I don't like the look of a dash covered in gauges so I'm trying to keep them clean. I also fixed my spedo lights a few wires were loose on the illumination controller and needed to be soldered.

After going on car fax I found that I am the 9th owner of my DSM and it was origonally purchased in buffalo the last owner was from Rochester funny how it ended up back home. Most of the owners had the car 2-3+ years other than the 5,6, and 7th that were all in a period of a few months strange.... But no wrecked title or anything like that I'm curios as to what owner painted it doesn't say in the inspection.

Nice car man. keep up the work I need another good journal to follow LOL.
btw, I like how your dash matches your shoe laces :hellyeah: haha

I officially have no life LOL spent 2hours polishing about 9 inches of my intake manifold along with removing castings marks and cleaning everything out really good. Has anyone attempted to polish the whole intake?

On a side note I ordered the reverse lights and license plate lights I was missing. I am also in the process of buying a set of comp cams.

I would run that battery cable through the interior and NOT use zip ties:notgood:

Yeah I'm a foot short on the end going into my trunk when I swap it out I will run it through the interior thanks for the feedback

Got my transmission all back together had to replace my 3-4 shift rail. After I had everything together for the second time the bolt that hold the syncro together slipped so the bolt wouldn't go in:banghead: I had to rush to get it together before the RTV dried. But i noticed I forgot oil slide ***I cant remember but can I just take the top part of my case off to put it in I would hate to have to take my whole trans apart again.

I also ordered a pair of reverse lights off a member on tuners since I figured it would be next to impossible to match my other one that is blacked out. I also purchased some license plate lights but I seem to be missing the bracket :| Just my luck of how things are going right about now.

Figured I should throw a few pictures up showing what I have been up to. Since i ended up breaking my driver side caliper when I started to bleed my brake system forgetting that I did not have that caliper on the rotor. I broke the seal on it and not in the mood to rebuild them ordered a pair of a member on here for a decent price. Looks like I will Be painting my fronts blue later.

I started to clean my head up a little still not sure what route I am going to go with I am definitely getting aftermarket cams and I was looking for a completely rebuilt head If the price is right since i don't want valve-float. If I was to do the rebuild myself it would cost more than buying one already done the only reason I am straying away from doing it myself is because one of my exhaust manifold studs is stripped and I'm not sure if i can fix it.

dsmtuners076.jpg

Went over my valve cover to take the shine off it i like it with more of a brushed aluminum look.

Nice color choice on the calipers. I have some the same color too. :thumb:

Keep it up and she will be done before you know it.

Ordered a new alternator since my old one kept blowing fuses. I also got my calipers in today and Installed them in about 45 minuets.
dsmtuners082.jpg

Here is a picture of My Emergency brake situation... Anyone know how you go about taking the rest out so I can just drop a new one in.

Why out the boost gauge dwn there? You need to be able to view it easily. Why the gauges.?

"RE-RX7" How often do you look at your boost meter its not like its an rpm gauge You set the pressure and it stays around that. If you notice its low then you have a boost leak.

I thought I had a huge issue on my hand after I checked the straightness on my exhaust manifold
dsmtuners085-1.jpg

It straitened out when I bolted it to my head so its all good.
dsmtuners086-1.jpg

Purple Power on my block This stuff works very well
dsmtuners087.jpg

If you look at the far left manifold stud you can see that it is not strait. the previous one broke off in there and when I drilled & re-taped it the bit drifted a little. I do not think its that big of a deal the manifold still goes on and off easily and I did not go to deep.

Did you really just ask that question? I dont know about you but alot of us watch it pretty closely. A number of reasons why you wouldnt do that. Not to mention looking down while driving isnt a good idea. Why not just by a pillar pod?

Got my Block back form the kid at my school I was not happy at all he had the block for two weeks and there was still thick grease on it any I told him to label my pistons and remove the freeze plugs both were not done.... what a waste of time and money thankfully my pistons still had the tape that I labeled them with. I went to the auto store and picked up a can of engine greaser and purple power I soaked the block with the aerosol and let it soak in purple power and boiling water in a plastic tote. I painted my block and removed my balance shaft bearings with a 30mm socket,an extension and a hammer. I also got a few parts in alternator, fuel lab afpr, intake & exhaust gasket, and I am waiting on my comp stage 1 cams.

Could have stuck a wire brush to that block to clean it up. Still looks a whole lot better though.

Is this the first car you have worked on? And with all the rust I would crush that car but hay thats just me.

Yes this is the first car I have worked on to this extent. I wouldn't go as far as to say crush my car there is not that much rust keep in mind I live in buffalo new york. and my talon is 16-years-old
