Resolved 1990 tsi won't rev over 1500 rpm

My 1990 Eagle Talon TSi manual won't rev past 1500 rpm unless I pretty well floor it, it idles ok and starts normal.

Some background the car was running fine until the ECU died. I checked the MPI and it was fine, found caps in the ecu leaking , changed out the ECU with one from a 1991. (wierd that the tach works ) and now I have this problem. It will rev fine when the MAF is unplugged. I also unplugged the TPS but that didn't make any difference. see attached video clip.

Sent the ECU out today to ECM tuning for repair.

So the 91 ECU in a 90 car. Did you switch the ECU pin #6 and #14?

oh yes ? Wow !! Great news Thanks !!... I will be switching those pins today and hope for the best

Switched the pins and runs like a top. (and the tach still works !! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your knowledge! And the thread "How to remove/replace pins in harness connectors" was a great help, even with the pics no longer available the explaination guided me thru. Made a tool to depress the tab inside the connector from a mini screwdriver filed down to fit. Kinda of a tight spot to work at it especially for 62 yr old bones )
