Toronto,
Hey guys,

I just picked up a set of low mile shift cables from a guy that were supposed to be for a 1991 + car. Well it looks like they are about 1" shorter then mine which with reading means they are a 1990 cable.

Can I get these cables to work with a 1992?

Thanks

Adam

90 91 use a double adjustment type cables and a different tranny mount and cable mount than 91.5-94. If I am not mistaken you can use them but you also have to accompany the cables with the correct mounts for the tranny. I think you also have to replace the cabin shifter assembly as well. Its easier just to get the right cables. The wrong ones or a hack job is only going to fry your tranny and or not allow it to get into some or most of the gears.

Yeah that sounds about right, i knew at one time i had heard a few things like that.

I owned a '90 for a short period of time. Ordering parts was a pain learning which parts were different from 91-94 to '90. Never again will i buy a 1990 year dsm. A '91 would be fine, but not a '90.
