sorry if this is in the faq already, i found similar threads but only for the 2g or the sohc 4g37. anyway my cousin had a 1990 gs and its been sitting in a building for some years now and i was considering buying it if it has any performance potential (i know its a 4g63 so i assume yes) but i was wondering if turbo-ing a gs is something feasible? (i have decent experience working on cars and plenty of time/room/tools/etc) im dying for a dsm but cant find a decent 1g gst or gsx in my area and within my current price range

It's not as easy as just slapping on a turbo if you want it to last. The biggest concern is the n/a 4G63 9.0:1 cast pistons as they don't handle boost very well. The turbo 4G63's came with 7.8:1 cast pistons to compensate for the boost. If you want to do a successful swap the most important thing is to research, plan, and acquire the needed parts before beginning. Thanks guys, im definitely gonna keep looking into it, im in no rush to get it on the road and i wanna do it right if i do. Thanks for the links, those should be a big help, looks like i have some dsm homework to do. haha
 
yep just do it. The pistons aren't that big of a deal. Untill your maxing out a 14b, or well into a 16g you'll never have problems. I ran LOTS of boost on a 16g with E85, and never had problems until I started to not care and get abusive with the tune.
