1990 dsm cruise control removal / uicp question

Ok i understand what your sayin now i think. This may work but i've never tried it so i can't verify that. The only thing i can think of that you will have to do other than remove the current cable going from the cruise to the throttle body is unbolt the cable going through the firewall and swap it 180 degrees. You need to have it pointing towards the battery not the drivers side.

If you look at the pic i gave a link to earlier you'll get an idea of what i'm talking about. You can't see the firewall but it comes out in the same location as stock and points towards teh passenger side then loops around the front of the intake manifold in the stock mounts that are there then loops back around to the passenger side and connects to the brackets and throttle body back there.

Does that make any sense to you? If you need a better pic let me know and i'll get one for you tonight.

I finally did it ! It is a 15 minute job, I used my old cable and fab'ed up some brackets for it. And it works perfectly!! Thank you 90blacktsiawd for all the help and support. Here are some pictures .......

awesome job man, i did the same thing on my 90. Just reuse the old cable and fab up some brakets.

The only issue i can see that might arise from your new set up is getting the cable to the exact tightness it needs to be to open and close the throttle plate all the way. If you have a logger you can use it to make sure your opening it 100%. Other than that good job :thumb: . If you took more pics you should go ahead and make this a how to guide.

O and i dont understand why but i did post up that pick yesterday but it ended up on post 22 not 27 like it shoulda been so i dont know if you saw it.

Yeah, it's a pain. Have to route the throttle cables past the UICP... so far an over/under approach seems to work the best.

Really though, IS there any way to simply remount the stock 90 CC box to the firewall, for us cheap bastards? :D Looks like it'll take some wedging/rearrangement to fit, is all... more precisely, has anyone done it successfully? I'd rather keep my CC for long trips up and down the coast, as well as an anti-leadfoot. ;)

If anyone comes up with a way to mount it else where, where it's hidden pretty well please let me know. Because I just removed the CC on my 90 since I hated looking at it every time I poped the hood. So damn ugly, plus it was practicly dead weight right? (thats what I tell myself on long trips anyway)
