I have a little bit of In and out shaft play on my evo3 and dont want to reinstall it on my new motor because of fear that the compressor wheel will break. SO, does anyone know of a place where they rebuild turbos for a reasonable price. I dont want to spend 600 bucks for a new one. Thanks

Well you can save yourself some time and money by going to Turbochargers.com
They sell evo3 cartridges for $395. Pull turbo, Swap housings, Call it a day

forced performance will rebuilt it for about 200-250 i believe. If not check and see if there is a semi-truck or tractor repair shop near you, i had one rebuild my 14b for 40 bucks

Yea but it could go past a compressor housing. The wheel is forked then!

I'd vist vfaq.com and readup on rebuilding an MHI turbo and determin wheter or not you would want to save alot and do it yourself.

FP charges WAY more than $250 for a basic turbo rebuild. Try almost twice that! See: typical FP rebuild. If you keep your reciept for such a rebuild, then MAYBE its a good thing IF you plan on selling the car soon and find a sucker for FP (oh! there are so many). But otherwise, just way overpriced for such a basic service. So many good shops do a great job for so much cheaper. Nothing against FP, but the work just doesn't warrant the price. The name doesn't matter when a MACHINE is used to balance a turbo, and anyone can rebuild it w/ a set of basic tools.
