16g rebuild?

I just picked up a ported and clipped 16g a kid had lying around from his 1g project car for $40. For the price i couldnt turn it down. It needs a rebuild because of the play (i can pull the compressor wheel forward and back about an 1/8"). It also does not have an exhaust housing or a wastegate and actuator. How much roughly am I looking at to have the thing rebuilt, new exhaust side housing, wastegate, and actuator?

Rebuild kit alone is $100 from Forced Performance (or your reuilder). Housing, new, I am guessing $150-200. Wastegate is in the housing. Actuators are around $50. Used, you may be able to snag something off ebay cheap. Add in the cost of labor (unless you can do it...pretty simple), prolly around $60 h/r,times 2-3 hrs. Then figure $50 for balancing to protect your investment. So you have a final cost of:
$100

$530 (A new EVO 16G!)

Best case scenario:
$50 (two journal bearings, a thrust bearing/thrust collar from your local turbo place...there is one, i assure you...this is assuming you dont need new orings, etc)
$50 (actuator/housing)
$0 (you rebuild)
$0 (scibe a line along the nut, wheel,and shaft so it stays within stock balance..or else it WILL die again)

im kind of new to this kind of stuff... but since the 14b is still a tdo5h, could i possibly use an exhaust housing from one of those and possibly reuse my stock wastegate?

yes, but a 14b turbine housing is smaller than a 16G turbine housing.
