So now with the 16g is the J-Pipe that comes with all the installs only good if you have a SMIC? Currently im running an Apex'i FMIC so would the J-pipe still be needed?

Also are the 16g install kits worth it at the end of the day or should I go around trying to find the parts individually.

Also

Quote from Forcedperformance
J-pipe, 1G style oil line w/ banjo bolts & crush washers, 7cm turbine inlet gasket, copper crush washers for the water lines, oil drain tube and oil drain gaskets

Other than the J-Pipe thats basically a shopping list I can go put together myself seperately for my 16g correct?

Don't get the install kit, it's easy and much cheaper to piece it together. You'll still need a j-pipe, one that will fire down and to the right towards the inlet of the fmic.

How is it "easier" to piece together a install kit? I do agree that it is cheaper to piece a kit together though.

Also the j pipe you will need is going to depend on the configuration of your FMIC. Which fmic are you currently running?

If your fmic is like the one in the link you provided then you will need the j pipe that curves to the drivers side.

I got the pr core because i wanted a short route set up with the maf the kit is just that a kit i chose to build my own because of my set up not too much more j pipe 20 bucks off ebay, piping less than 30 for both pieces couplers cheap also. I got what i paid for a setup thats perfect for my car. Still cheaper than any kit ive seen for my 1g.

Well dosen't the J-pipe connect to the outlet in the turbo? Are 16g turbo's mounted facing differntly than t25's?

Yes. That's why they sell the 2g install kit as well.

If you don't want to buy the install kit, (whitch I think will be easier) then you'll have to find your own piping in order to route the j-pipe to connect to the driver side intercooler just b/c you are running side to side FMIC. try searching for picture's, I'm sure there is plenty that can help you out.

i ran a evo big 16g for about 6 months and had horrible problems with a leak in the j pipe because i had purchased the wrong one off of ebay and it did not help at all. i also found that the install kit helped alot and saved alot of time in not having to look for all the individual parts and piping dimensions.

Damn alright then. Trying to save money where I can still got about another 900 in maintenece and other parts I need including the install kit before I can slap my bad boy on but it seems the install kit is the best way to go. Thanks for all the advice and instructions from you all.

Thanks
Armin

There are three types of "j" pipes.

One that is bent so it is closer to the passenger side of the car and is best for the SMIC.

There is another that is bent so that is closer to the driver side of the car and is better for a short route FMIC.

The third kind interferes with your stock radiator fan. They are made pointing both directions, if you want to keep your stock fan, ask if the j pipe interferes before buying it.
