16g j pipe

OK guys first i apologize for this post I'm sure it has been posted before just couldn't find it. OK doing a fmic on my dsm and just got my evo III big 16g and noticed i needed the j-pipe (didn't come in my kit) so looking at many different sites including eBay i noticed that some come with the j-pipe nipple and some didn't for the life of me i 1. cant remember what line goes to it i think the bov and 2. is it completely necessary to have if I'm planning on venting to the atmosphere? O and its on a 1g tsi fwd auto

Most use a j pipe nipple as a boost source for a manual boost controller I believe, atleast thats what I use mine for!

That nipple connects to your waste gate actuator, or boost controller if you have one.
