I feel like a noob for not knowing this, but hey, this is the newbie section, :)

So one of the bolts connecting the j-pipe to my turbo managed to work it's way out after I hit a fat bump on the freeway. The hole is clean, so the bolt didn't break... I'm assuming it just came loose.

So, I searched on this and found this thread

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243395&highlight=16g+bolt

which pointed someone to this thread

http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=97275&highlight=thread+bolt

Both say the bolt is 8mm x 1.25 thread pitch/spacing. One guy says he got his bolt 20mm long. But the guy was asking specifically about a 14b, so is this the same bolt for the 16G?(as the thread title was 14b/16g) I'm just trying to get some confirmation on this information.

Here's a picture of the bolt in question. Also, on the side that still has the bolt, it goes straight into the turbo, where as on the other side the hole has an opening in the back. I'd assume I need to hold the bolt on from the other side... or no? If so, what do I need there as far as sizes, etc. Help is greatly appreciated.

Both sides of the compressor outlet are threaded, so they are just bolts. No nuts on the other side needed. The head is 12mm, and to match threads, I suggest you take the remaining one off and taking it into the store with you. Set the threads on top of each other and pull in opposite directions. If the threads interlock and don't pull apart, that's the same thread.

Just take the other one out. Take it to the hardware store. Some place like ACE hardware and just match it up. You can even see what kind of thread pitch it is by comparing. I'd also suggest getting chrome or stainless steel.

Okay, so I got an 8mm bolt with a 1.25 thread pitch, and it seems like it will fit great.

However, the head on the bolt is large enough that it hits the J-pipe and prevents the bolt from lining up straight with the hole, so I can't get the bolt in at all.

Any idea where I can get a bolt with a smaller head on it?

This is so annoying.... it's just 1 simple bolt and it's being a PITA... :)

heh well i had the same problem, but i fixed it really simple, i was in your shoes before like youre right now,i was looking for the bolt for almoust like 2 weeks, but then i bought i lil bit tinyer and longer bolt which could get through the hole on the J-Pipe ,i put the bolt in, put the washer from the bottom along with the nut and then tighted up from the botom or you can do it from the top whatever is good for you and it worked out for me really good ,still have no damn leak from a J-Pipe :thumb:
