I'm about to buy a 16g from someone and just wanted to make sure this is a 16g after searching it helped a little but not in my situation heres the numbers on the 16g

49178-57700 now the 77 part looks to be grounded down and etched in, it has dual fins but yet it has a t3 style flange and that he welded the the wastegate closed to run an external wastegate

also serial number 030702069
m.fd 49178-04430

thanks for helping.

That doesn't look like any 16G that I have ever seen. The shape of the turbine and compressor housings are completely different. The compressor blades are hard to clearly see in the picture. The first 5 numbers in the part number (49178) is consistent with a MHI turbo but I'm not familiar with the last part of it. The numbers I have for the 16G variants are:

49178-01520 Small 16G
49178-01420 Big 16G
49178-01470 EVOIII 16G

I've never seen them with different exhaust housings, and not sure if subie has a stock t3 housing, but can I swap my 14b exhaust housing on to this sucker other wise I'm either off to get a t3 flanged manifold and external wastegate (this one has a wastegate but it is welded shut).

okay heres some more pictures and I've never seen a mitsu exhaust flange like this I have a 1g and a 2g exhaust manifold sitting right next to it and neither come close to bolting up to this sucka, even thought all the hoses bolt right up to it.

Look at the super20g, I believe it uses the exact same turbine housing (maybe a different throat diameter for higher efficiency up top, but close nonetheless).

I am 100% sure that is pure mitsubishi, but what it is exactly, I cannot put my finger on. Get a closeup (not a cellphone picture) of the model number tag.

I believe you are right it does look exactly like a 20g turbine housing and I guess a 16g turbine wheel, so does that make this like in the middle LOL like a 18g and if this is a 20g turbine housing then man I'm just gonna get a 20g wheel and be happy with this trade.

Been a long time since I saw one but that looks like a Hahn super 16G. Generally not well regarded in my experience. All the lag of a large turbo without the pay off of big power IIRC.

my main goal is to stay 2.0 for now and spray to get around 350+hp then go with a with something like a FP green. when I'm more built to handle it.

Then why would you go to so much trouble trying to get this to bolt on to your car, when an Evo3 will do and be bolt on with just a j-pipe and some tuning? Honestly, a green is NOT going to be that much of an upgrade from an evo3 (42 lbs/min vs the greens `~48). A good upgrade from an Evo3 would be a 3052 or 3065.

I'm actually thinking more on the lines of swapping the exhaust housing if I can to just bolt up to my manifold instead of reselling this and buying an evo3 but I might also do that to.

yeah it's up for sale right now, and my bad but come to find out it's actually internally gated and that the whole thats welded up isn't for the wastegate but theres another whole on the inside of the exhaust housing for the wastegate, but I'm still gonna resale it and get a evo3 16g

The way everything is pointed makes me think that that is the Super 16g from the hann N/T kit for the 420a.

it is a hahn 16g from the picture they posted on there site, but I have a buyer now for it so I can just go with either evo 3 or 50 trim.
