Hey guys, i have a simple question. I have researched and found mixed answers to my question. I am looking to see if on a 14b if the coolant lines need to be hooked up or not. I am just looking for the correct information, not what is easier. I ask due to the fact of so many new turbos and turbo'd cars that can be upgraded with oil only turbos, no coolant lines being attached to them. thank you

Will the turbo run without the coolant lines hooked up. Should you? No. The coolant lines are there to keep the oil in the turbo cool. Otherwise it'll turn to nastiness (for lack of a better term... it's early) and you'll smoke the bearing pretty quickly.

It is necessary to use the water cooling lines. It's not the type of coolant it supplies that is important but rather the total amount of cooling liquid used to cool the turbo. You could re-route the lines and make them additional oil cooling lines but simply blocking off these lines would harm the turbo.

i know i need the cooling lines my question is does anyone know the part # for the turbo cooling lines i was wipping off my cooling lines to try and locate an oil leak and i guess one of my lines must have been rusty and sprung a leak and i need to get new ones.....my local dodge dealer can get the parts but they cant search the parts so i need a part number for them.......sorry to thread jack

You don't have to run coolant through the turbo. If you do not run the lines you just have to idle the motor a little while to cool it down after a hard run to prevent coking the oil. I ran my last eclipse oil cooled only for thousands of miles with no ill effects. Many stock cars come oil cooled only.

does anyone know the part number for the cooling lines or a good aftermarket set.........my dodge dealer can get the parts for me if i know the part number but they cant search mitsu parts
