Saw that eBay exhaust housing a while ago. Just not too confident at this time regarding its durability. Don't want my turbine housing to blow to bits when I'm doing a pull (or any other time, for that matter).

On the other hand, $75 compared to ~$300 is a little tempting. Perhaps a smart idea would be to have an extra 14B lying around just in case things get nasty. As they used to say "An heir and a spare".

I highly doubt it would blow apart ROFL let alone crack under boost. But, i'll let ya know.

I never hear anyone speak of the turbine housing cracking on the ebay turbos, so the housing might be worth a shot

I wander what size the flapper is? I have a 16g sitting here on the floor and the exhaust housing has so many cracks in it. It is very tempting!

The MHI E316g housings have a higher nickel content than the other 16g's and most ebay housings, and are less prone to cracking. They also have a more efficient convolute, but it's still a 1/2 teardrop shape. And, the E3 housing actually has a lot less meat in some areas than the 16g housings. To be perfectly honest, I saw as good or better flow/spool out of my ported 16g housing as I did the E316g housing.

There are also a few vendors selling stainless steel versions of these housings, although I was never convinced of the benefit over the stock higher-nickel MHI versions. Someone else feel free to correct me here.

BTW - I know I'll catch shlt for "sucking up", but take what Matt up there ^^^ says to heart. I think he's forgotten more about turbos and compressor maps than most of us will ever know. LOL

Speaking of which ... Matt ... I'm gonna be hitting you up for some more HX35 advice soon. :D

I have that ebay turbine housing also, matched right up to my td05 turbo. The wastegate actuator arm does need to be opened up a bit, not a big deal though. I was impressed with the quality

Well it worked for awhile then just started leaking oil from the turbine housing like crazy

Thought I would fill you in... She's running strong still.. Just not in my car LOL

I was gonna say Josh, you don't have a dsm..Someone should post pics of the hotside ebay 7cm housing and the stock E3 housing just to show the difference..I think I might have one of the ebay housing, but i'm not sure if the pic contains a tape measure or not..

Scratch that, All I have is a pic of the WG flapper on the ebay housing..Not one with the whole thing and a tape measure on it..
