Ok, my 14b exhaust housing is 100% shot and the compressor wheel is pretty scarred but the center cartridge, bearings and exhaust wheel are mint. My 16g is mint parts wise, minus the seals, theyre extinct...so question is, being the same center cartridge, could i use the good 14b cartridge and exhaust wheel, with the almost brand new 16g exhaust housing, compressor wheel and cover? did some searching and found alot on hybrids. But no definate on if THIS particualar combiation was ok. I see no issues except maybe in balancing, and even there im not TOO worried. This is simply to keep me going until i get my last few things for the hx-35. So let me know what you all think, thanks

The 16G compressor wheel will not fit the 14B center housing, if that's what you're asking.

yes that was my question. I'm trying to take what i have to make a decent turbo that will last a couple months. i could atleast put the 16g exhaust housing on the 14b and that alone would make the world of difference because the 14b housing is literally cracked in half, but wanted to see if i could use the compressor wheel and cover also.

You could take the 14B's center housing to a machine shop and have them machine the backplate ring to the same size as your 16G's center housing. Shouldn't cost much, and it would allow you to use the 16G rotating assembly in the 14B center housing.

Then I would need new seals for the 16g shaft and would be no different then just rebuilding the 16g itsself right? Please correct me if i am wrong. I'm just looking to use the compressor wheel and cover, with the 14b center cartridge, shaft, exhaust wheel, and the 16g exhaust housing.

Yeah you can pull that off, too, as long as the 14B's center housing is machined.

Just be sure clean the center housing and seal groove well before installing it, and if there are balance grinds on the 16G's locknut you'll want to mark the nut's correspondence to the compressor wheel so it can be installed on the 14B's turbine shaft. If there are no balance grinds on the nut, it doesn't matter how the wheel goes on the shaft.

Thanks for the input everyone, but only ended up using the new 16g exhaust housing on the 14b. Didnt realize that the 16g had grenaded itself and literally blew apart, so nothing was salvagable except the exhaust housing LOL. but the 14b with the new exhaust house feels 100% better so im good for now.
