Ok so i bought my 92 gsx blown up in 2009. I rebuilt it (stock) and it ran good. i had to get a new ecu due to capacitors leaking (common) and then it ran great. The oil cooler bolt loosened while i was on the highway and leaked all my oil while going 75mph and locked up the motor. So i slowly built the motor for about 600hp and eventually got to around 400whp on e85 with a big 16g at 30psi. i sold the car at the beginning of 2013 for $5000 and got a 02 camaro z28 because i needed something more reliable. Now i just bought the same gsx back minus head, turbo, ecu, manifold, and wideband for $400 and plan to build it to roll out with 1000hp. This will be the first build journal i have ever done and i think it will be cool to show people what i am doing and get advise and hear other dsm'er opinions and experience. im very excited about this build and i cant wait to get it underway. Also it will be very satisfying when i complete the car because all my friends either have mustangs or camaro's/ta's and they think tuners should bow down to them. well none of my friends know i just bought my car back :shhh: and hopefully by spring time ill freight train all of them and they will be mad :sneaky:. Now i will read threads and gather enough information as i can to decide what parts will be the best for my build and i will post again when i have a plan for my short block.

I hope you have at least $30k and some crazy shop sponsorship if you want to hit 1000HP. This is way overkill if all you want to do is put some Camaros and Mustangs to shame. You said you already built that same car to 600hp but you were 200hp short, you might wanna chase down that 600hp mark first.

Here is what I would do if I were you:

Throw a head on there with some reasonable cams (450)and upgraded springs/retainers(250), HG & L19 studs (300) a rebuilt HX40 in a BEP housing on an FP manifold(900), ECMLink and an Eprom ECU(700), make sure your fuel system is up to snuff for E85 at 35-40psi (500)and go kick the sh_t out of those cars for around $3000! 600 AWHP is more than enough to do what you want! I just saw a thread with a stock 7bolt in the 9s trapping 148mph!!! I wish I had save $5-8k 6 years ago!!!

You can find most of that stuff used on tuners or dsmlink forums!!! Forced performance is offering some killer deals on turbo setups right now too!

That sounds nice but theres no way he will make 600AWHP with a bolt on back housing. Also, for the one 7 bolt going 9s at 148, 50 of them blow up at 400whp. It can be done obviously, but not for long and not often.

Well then go T3 for marginally more money and do it that way if that's what it takes to max the compressor. (That's what I did!) I've logged 59-60 lb/min on an HX35, so I hope the HX40 can make 600whp!

I was just making a point with the stock 7bolt in the 9s comment. He has a built bottom end anyway so it is a moot point.

Good luck with your build either way! If you have the money to spend then more power to you!

Keep us updated on your build, I'd love to find out how it goes.

I really need to make a list and I will once I start putting everything back together when my trans comes in. I have around 10... 11.5k (now with a stage two trans) in my car and I have a solid 500whp. Trust me, That's A LOT of power.

That brings up another thing. Once you start pushing that much power make sure your trans can hold it. (found that out the hard way.) It's not all about the engine, a lot of people overlook that.

If you have the money, there is no limit of what you can do. Mine has taken years to get this way but don't forget... Reliable, fast, cheap... Pick two.

Filled block, enormous turbo, n2o, auto trans or dog box. Wow, i dont think theres a set "plan" to follow for 1k hp. Good luck, and hell, even if youre say 300hp short you still have an insanely powerful car.

Man I think ## trying to fly before you can walk. I dont know what experience you have with thee cars. But i PROMISE you, this isnt gonna go as easy as you think its going to. Start with your motor first. You'll have atleast $6k-$7k into your longblock alone, $4k into trans, around $2500 into a turbo. Slow down a little bit. Unless you have atleast gone 10s, you dont need to be thinking about a 1000hp goal quite yet. Best of luck to ya, im just being a realist.

why you gotta dis 7 bolt. LOL

anyway dude good luck. im subscribed. looking forward to this build. :hellyeah:

I have to ask.. how do you know you made "around 400hp?"

Call me a skeptic or a cynic, but I wouldn't expect anything other than a part out and rationalization when hes >$20,000 in with no end in sight, a DSM-shaped paperweight, and the realization that the curve gets increasingly steep past 600whp.

More than simply time or money is required. :thumb:

So, let's not start sucking each other's d*cks just yet alright?

^^ hes gotta be planning on running alcohol. Like the dragsters, funny cars or whatever they are called.

Ethanol (E85/E98) is alcohol. Do you mean methanol? It's not absolutely necessary, but where you would have to increase delivery capability by ~50% on E98 you basically have to double your gasoline system to run Methanol pure.

Several 4 digit cars on Ethanol though.

This guy hasn't even been here to reply since he posted this build thread. He's in for a surprise LOL that's like one of my bosses at work. I told him I have an eclipse and he goes on telling me he used to build them in the 90's claiming he could make 1000hp with 2k! I said dude your on crack! And gave him my thoughts on which the he had no reply for.

Is there even anyone on this site with over 800hp? Let alone 1000hp??
