1 Question about porting..

i have a 2 gen and am porting out the exhaust mani. There is a flange in the middle on the inside that devides the flow of the different cylinders. Are you supposed to gring that down? What would happenif you do?

Usually, when the manifold gets ported, that divider does get ground down. Not completely taken off, but just cut down a little. It is there to direct the airflow, but it still serves it's purpose when ground down a little in the porting process. Here's a pic of mine. This would be considered a stage 1 port. Not a huge amount was removed. I've seen some so extreme, where that divider was completely gone.....

They do serve the purpose of directing the airflow, we never cut them out when we port our manifolds.

Hey Paul, do you have a pic of ported out runners on the exhaust manifold? Im about to port mine using a fel-pro gasket and im freaked out by how little material there will be left around the opening of the runners. could i see yours?

Do not remove that DIVIDER!

if you do you will loose performance

that evenly directs, and distributes the air to al of the runners, other wise, you will just ahve mostly 1 backed up runner, and it will loose it's efficency
