How many DSMs do you see on the road

This was at Cars and Coffee in March of 2020. (Wow, over 5 years ago?!) His name was Dan or Daniel Thorpe. Something like that. He was a member on here. A close to stock '95 GSX. About a year later he sent me pictures of a fresh paint job on it. Those are long lost but I won't forget it. I was there in my '98 RS. We had a 30 minute conversation or so. I offered a race but it wouldn't work out being in Hoover, which has way too many police and regulations. It's the last DSM besides my own that I really photographed though.

South Louisiana checking in. DSM sightings are pretty rare these days. If I see a three a year in the area, even counting things like Cars & Coffee and other local car meets, it would be a lot. Hopefully I can start dragging my 2G out this fall and at least be the one that people see. 😆 Even in New Orleans they're pretty rare at the typical car events. If I jaunt over to Houston and go to a car show I see a few more, but it's a MUCH larger area than where I live.

Seen one at a shop only and apart from mine I have not seen another on the roads yet.

I have been stopped a few times as people come over and say they dont see them anymore and they love it and how original it still is, Or they used to own one or two or three LOL or their buddy did. so it is nice the come have a chat! I like that people love seeing it driving about and makes me happy that I was able to save this one and get it to a working car once again.

I would LOVE to see a few more locally and spot another! but I bet that day will come when I dont use this car and I am in another car as thats always the way it goes haha

My 1g drought is over… spotted this one months ago behind a garage. Stopped in and asked the garage owner what was up with it. He said it was his friends that passed away. He was trying to get it to run to sell for the family. I gave him my number and said if he needs help or parts I’m the guy to call locally. Left it at that. Months go by, and one day driving back from work i see it’s sitting out front of his shop with a forsale sign… stopped in again, and i am now the owner of another 1ga awd. Hasn’t been on the road since 2010… it has a dsmtuners decal on it so i believe the original owner was active here. Original paint, and was garage kept until it was brought to this garage.

I don't see any around here.....maybe because I own them all. It would be cool to see one now and then.
My son has 2 2g AWD Auto cars, a 95 and a 97, both TSI's, but life has got in the way of doing anything with them currently. He is hanging onto them so maybe one day. :thumb:
When we both had our auto cars running, I found him one night and his buddy shot this short video. Two 4g63's, humming in unison.

Check out what I saw this morning. It's unbelievably rare to see one this CLEAN in my area!

P.S.- I know the guy because I worked on a GSXR bike a while ago that he was a part of :D...first time seeing his ride though.

They have been rarely sighted in KS also. Sad. We have Evos though, LOL.

Here in the Bronx i have seen probably 7 DSMs in the past 5 years to my recollection, six 2Gs and one 1G (i think, i’ve never gotten a good upclose look at it but i believe it was either a Talon or Laser, it was a black car so it was hard to make out the details). I’ve only ever really gotten to be on speaking terms with 3 of the owners, and really only gotten to be on acquaintance-terms with one, the very one who helped me buy the one i drive today, i still see him every-so-often, as he passes by where i work and we get to talking. I imagine none of them are on DSMTuners, but then again, i’ve never asked them so who knows. Outside of strictly the DSM cars i see 3Gs and 4Gs at about the same frequency maybe slightly more so. Once in a blue moon i may see a CT9A Lancer Evo, i think there’s a handful of them here. Once in a while i see a Mirage or Galant, 90s looking one, that passes by where i work, same can be said for a silver 3000GT. Other Mitsubishi’s like Lancers and Eclipse Crosses, Outlanders are fairly common. I think my area has a much stronger Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infiniti, BMW, Mercedes Benz presence as far as car enthusiasts go.

Last one I saw in my area was around April at a range. But normally I see one every 6 months on the highway, always going in the opposite direction.

Last DSM I saw on the road was probably 3 months ago... a red 2gb talon. Saw it leaving the gym, and found it over at the gas station. I had to stop and talk to him.

To my knowledge, I've never seen a 1G in the wild, unless I was a baby when I saw it. They're unicorns around here.

I dont see any but they see me. Get many thumbs up etc.
Same here. There are a couple guys in central Illinois with dsm but none of them are out driving. So many people stop at my house when the car is in the driveway, or pull up at the redlight wanting info. Even had a cop roll up on me in a parkinglot ( thought I was cooked) he just wanted to talk about my talon and the laser he had back in the day

None ever not even evos too many wannabe's parted them out
Basically the same in my area, and the select few that have them barely ever drive them. I try to drive my 1g every weekend or so.

Don't seem to be any other DSM's in my neck of the woods, and I only take my '98 GT-S Spyder out if it hasn't rained in a few days and won't that day. Stays in the garage otherwise. My previous '97 that T-boned a woman in a pickup who ran a red light was getting pretty bad rust on the strut towers as a result of my 15 years of daily driving. So it's a parts car for my rust-free '98 (just under 100K miles). Speaking of rare car sightings, saw a 2nd gen CRX about a month ago. They're rarer than hen's teeth now, too. Previously owned four 2nd-gen CRX's and put 372,000 miles on a '88 DX 5-spd (original engine and transmission) in 12-1/2 years. Just for curiosity's sake, has anyone ever managed that many miles on a DSM?
