Thats physical damage from something. Best to find out what it was if you can so you dont repeat it

These came out of a different motor a while ago that had some sort of bearing failure or timing failure. The only thing im using is the cam gears out of that head.

Did some forum searching and decided to use stock cam gears w hks 264/272 for now. Seems like a lot of people were able to drop them in and have good results.

I'd clean them with some dawn soap and water and an old toothbrush. They look reusable to me. Just a good cleaning is all.
The belt should always be new tho.

The trailing edge of every tooth is chewed up. That isn't dirt.

I wouldn't risk it on an interference engine.

100% damage. Pics didnt quite show it but there's a good 45deg chamfer across half the teeth fully, and partial for the rest. These are now in the trash .

Yeah I couldn't see the teeth real well. If that isn't debris, get a set of stockers over those. Old eyes
