Well Ive been doing a cylinder head job and finally got the timing belt and balance shaft belt on. So now Im down to torquing everything down. I started torquing one of the cam caps with an inch pound torque wrench (the book says to go to 168 inch pounds). I started turning and it got tight but no click so I kept tightening and then snap the bolt broke in half. Where can I get another one? Also my torque wrench for inch pounds starts at 120 then jumps straight to 240 so I am planning on just going to 120 then giving a couple more quarter turns. Why would it not make a click when it got to 120 and instead just break?

You can get a cheap beam type inch pound torque wrench and there actually accurate.
I take it the bolt broke off in the head. Did you get it all out?
As far as another bolt slowboy I bet has some available.
The factory specs on the cam bolts are 14-15 FT lbs or 168-180 INCH lbs.
If you have a good 3/8 ft lbs torque wrench that will work as well but many dont go down that low

Pretty sure you can get the bolt from your local Mitsu dealer as well. As to why it didn't "click", well you may have to have the wrench checked for accuracy. Good luck :)

Nothing local though...the nearest dealer is about 2 hours away. It looks like a pretty common bolt. Do you think they would have It at a local hardware store?

If not does anyone know the number I could tell the dealership on the phone to see if they have it (its the bolts that torque down the cam caps)?

Never mind all is good now. Car will be running today.
