my XTD unsprung stage 4, broke on me while launching after 1k miles, the rivets just sheared off if the part on the clutch disc were it splines into the input shaft, called them and sent pics, they offered to send me a new disc or $70, i took the money and replaced the rivets with grade 8 bolts....no problem 2k+ miles later, absolutly love the clutch!

You must have had a bad one. I have about 6 bazzilion 11 sec passes on mine with no issues.

My sprung 6 puck was about to explode the hub and spit the springs out, only after about 25 bazzillion 11sec passes, with a big chunk of that being "hot lapped". I honestly made 35 passes in about 6 hrs at byron dragway last year.

I get 10k, out of them, it lasts one season of harsh harsh abuse. I am very very thrilled with them for the price.

yeah thats what i was thinking, i love it now, lets just say ill never be purchasing a $500 clutch

Hello friends ! For those who are using the XTD, here's a question:

My car is almost stock. My OEM clutch is starting to slip and I think it's time to change it. So, since I'm doing some turbo upgrades and stuff I will just buy a stronger clutch thinking in the future.

Will the Stage 4 be overkill for a almost stock 2g ?

Also, how does it feels ? Is this clutch the kind that is "IN or OUT", having no play, like ACT 2600 ?

Thanks !!!

I am running an XTD clutch with a Fidanza flywheel on my Z (300zxTT) and let's just say that it's not bad. 4k miles with no issues, but recently the clutch has been feeling weird when just grabbing in the 1st gear. Still grabs great in 2nd+ but the first gear activation has too much vibration happening. I reckon it's trying to die out on me soon.

Very much streetable though.

If you are cheap - get this thing, but if you want more quality - I would go with ACT. Really. Because on the Z there is next to no play available >_<

Ive had the xtd stage 4 and now i have the 3. The stage four was just a little more than i wanted so i downgraded just because stage 3 was suitable. now i would like to know if there is anyone making power with these clutches? im looking for people 350 and above!!!!!!

Late post, but any feedback on XTD stage 1 kit? With the use of a new fork, pivot ball, and OEM TOB ofcourse. My car is a 97 gsx and almost basically stock, with just a few bolt-ons like exhaust, downpipe, intake, and bov and is 95% DD use only. Anyone had one?

I have not used them so take this with a grain of salt but many have said if you're going the xtd clutch route go for the stage 4 kit or don't bother.

Yea I've been reading a little about that as well. Haven't seen much on the lower stages other than the stage 4.... But is it really that bad? When reading I know alot of the guys that say get the stage 4 have pretty high hp dsms too so I would really like to know for a really lightly modified dsm how reliable/good/bad it is.

I know this is a cheap clutch kit and yes I would love to have an act or another brand clutch but i already bought this and it's in my budget so I really just want feedback on people who's ran the stage 1. Anyone?

I just installed stage 4 on mine. with fidanza flywheel.

i say why risk stage 1?

The only reason I see going lower stage is for softer pedal or streetability.

but with stage 4 its soft like a stock clutch. it also isnt an on and off clutch. and I used an unsprung disk(which i thought would be 100% on and off.)

If you want a clutch for a daily driver that your not going to beat on the xtd should do you no harm.. If you plan on racing or driving the car hard forget about it.. I have a stage 3 I put in the beginning of summer and its already gone I have about 10k miles on it of hard driving and it's done not o mention even when it was newer it wasn't good for launching the Engaugment point is terrible and you can't slip it at all there's no enough there me driving my car hard and it lasted about 3 months I will never buy another one ill def be buying a act 2600 or name brand next time it's not something you should cheap out on

Iv got a 92 eagle talon non turbo I'm just woundering how it would run with a stage 4 xtd clutch kit

I ran their 6 puck on my last 1g, held great until my holset went on. It didn't like 426lbs one bit, but was great with my 16g for well over a year.

I have the XTD stage 3. Works great, grabs great! But DO NOT USE THE THROWOUT BEARING. USE AN OEM TOB.

+1 on the TOB being junk. The XTD solid 6-puck outlasted any other clutch in my car; eventually the hub broke off of the clutch disc since they only have like 8 rivets. Don't waste your time with a sprung disc.

Installed a XTD on my daughters third gen. So far it was been a a great clutch. Note don't use the the throw out bearing that comes with kit. Buy genuine Mitsubishi.

man why do we keep having these threads.

only XTD worth buying for a dsm is a stage 4. I have personally made 550whp and gone 11.20@130 with one in a 3400lb car, but it would slip at that power level. At 500whp it was fine.

Don't ever buy a stage 3 or less.

If you want somthing a little less potent get a stage 4 PP and run a new stock organic disc with it. The pedal feel isn't bad at all.

Also those of you bitching about the clutch only lasting 10kmi, get used to it. A clutch is a wear item, and with 8.75" clutch to transmit the kinda power we can make, they don't last long.

I hate reviving old threads like this, but I see no need to make a new thread for this question.

I'm looking to buy the XTD stage 2 clutch kit, which includes flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and tob.I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS. I'm not looking for any more power than 200, in the future. Right now I only have what the stock injectors can handle.

My questions are:
- How streetable is this kit? This is not a drag car. This is just a slightly modified street machine. I want it to shift smoothly so I can drive it and enjoy it.

- What's the quality like? Can I use all the parts? I'm going to get an OEM throwout bearing. So can I use the flywheel or no? I just don't want to drop the trans again in under 10k miles, it sucks.

Thanks to anyone who actually read this and an early thanks to whoever will reply.

- Solomon
