What's up guys? I picked this up from a local guy for $50. I've its a XTD stg 4 clutch and pressure plate supposedly. He claimed it only had 5k but it looks a little thin and the fingers are burned a little. This is the first 6 puck I've seen close up so any input is appreciated.

The disc doesn't look too bad. I would wipe the pads down with a rag and some acetone. The pressure plate looks decent. There is some wear on the fingers, i assume from running a junk tob. How does the friction surface on the pressure plate look?

Yes there was a POS throw out bearing on it, I don't have a Micron gauge. I checked the flatness with a straight edge ruler and it seems good. Flywheel has 500miles since it was turned. Bottom line is would you use it? Lol

Disc doesn't look too bad. I run a stage 4 unsprung in my AWD and it is VERY chattery and loud. Most people wouldn't like it. Shouldn't be nearly as bad with it being sprung. I would probably run it if I was strapped for cash and time. But a good OEM TOB would be a necessity. Also check condition of your pivot ball and clutch fork as well. I recently bought a 6 puck clutchnet disc to replace one of my fidanzas and it is working very well so far, about 500 miles on it.

Depends on what your plans are. On a 16g car that won't see a lot of track time, I'd run it.

But if your going to abuse it with lots of power and launching, I'd get a new one, but let me explain why.

That clutch looks perfectly fine, most likely is like new, and will probably work perfectly fine. My issue is that its sucks to change a clutch, and its worth the $179 to know that its a brand new clutch that will last 10k, and not an unknown. But if your not beating it too much, it will last a lot longer, so its no that big of a deal.

^ Precisely, it all depends on you and your situation. Me personally, I would rather spend that $180 on a new clutch for piece of mind, as changing a clutch is not that bad, but a PITA. BUT from the pictures, it does look in great shape, and I would not mind running it. I ran the XTD Unspring 6 puck on my old setup, it held 440hp all day, with quite a few launches on it. GREAT clutch for the money. . .

However, the sprung XTD clutches tend to pop the springs out, so be advised.

The discs in these 6 pucks have to made of a much stronger material to be as thin as they are. I looked at my 6 puck out of the box and noticed this right away. Then again, first time I've bought a 6 puck. I guess we'll see ;)

Is it something they are notorious for? I don't mind buying a new clutch, time is my issue. I'm wanting to put my motor back in on Thursday or Friday.

^ Not just XTD's, but all 6 pucks are. You have to really abuse them to get the springs to pop out. I mean, I hot lapped about 25 12.10's passes at the strip one day trying to get an 11.99. After that, they were just about ready to pop out.

In your case, put it together.

^ Agreed. If you need to have it up, install the clutch and replace it later on when it needs replacing.
