XO2 Tubular Exhaust Manifold

I agree with the above mentioned about being too much trouble... I mean you can get a lifetime warranty but who wants to worry about their turbo falling off in the middle of a 1/4 mile run?? Besides there are cast variants that will perform as well if not close to as well as the tubular manifolds made today. To each his own but id rather save a couple hundred buy a good flowing cast manifold (i.e. FP ) and not have to worry. This especially applies to a DD seing as the road conditions create more vibration and all.

I've done alot of research on tubular exhaust manifolds, and my conclusion is they're more trouble than they're worth. They all crack eventually (DNP included), and overheat stuff under the hood, destroying alternators, melting fans etc.. Probably the only one I would buy that doesn't cost a grand is the OBX one because it has a lifetime warranty, and when it cracks you can get a new one for free (still a pain because you have to change it out). If your building a race car you may want to go with a high dollar one, but otherwise it's ill advised.

Yea, I guess I'll see how it goes then, if it doesnt work out...tough im out about a 150 not to bad. I'll do a write up tho.

I see your from Michigan too, do you ever run at knoll raceway park??

I just went to bolt this exact manifold up to my car this evening after about 2500 in upgrades and this being one. Sadly the width on the exhaust ports from the block are 50mm exact and the ones off the manifold range from 39-41.3 and lacking anywhere from 1-3mm in height per :notgood:

I'm not going to bash them about it but eh.. i'm seriously not happy at all. oh and they're also refusing to exchange it for me. (just got the e-mail response) fun fun.

Why not try using a few extra lock washers?

I think you missed what he was saying, the manifold is hitting his studs, not allowing the manifold to sit flush with the exhaust ports on the head. You can't really add washers BEFORE the manifold goes on, can you say massive exhaust leak! ROFL

I'd say either shorten them, use bolts instead of studs or stack some gaskets.

+1, or just go to ACE hardware (or whatever is near you) and buy some automotive studs that fit.

I think they were 10x1.25. Just take the stud that fits to the store and match 'em up.

Did you buy it from XO2 racing or from one of the other ebay manifold companies?

Contrary to popular belief, they are NOT all the same

If I'm not mistaken the bolt size is a 8mm by 1.25 for the exhaust stud holes. :thumb:

i bought the xo2 one and ive measured it and things dont look good. the outlet to the turbo measures only 5.5cm and the individual primary holes on the flange are only about 3.5cm. What are the measurments on a typical cast mani??

Those are the measurements of a typical manifold... 7cm^2 openings = 6cm, 6cm^2 openings = 5.5cm

Take some pics, and bolt it on, let us know how it fits

Don't go crazy about just measurements :boring:

i took pics today, gimi an hour i'll load them up....i was just worried ### the primarys looked really small LOL

here ya go some pics, sorry the last measurment is fuzzy, but the opening on the block flange is roughly 3.4-3.5 cm.

I'd be more concerned about bolting that megan downpipe to your stock o2 housing.. it doesn't work

I talked to the ppl at Megan and they are gonna make a revised downpipe (v3) next year

Get a tubular o2 (for it to fit) if you haven't already.. then your exhaust setup will be exactly the same as mine, minus the catback

Do the runners on the manifold pinch down where they meet the collector (5.5cm opening) or is that just the angle of the pic?

I finally got ahold of xo2 today and i was told 2 people in thier staff make the manifold. aparently one doesn't know what the FU*k he's doing because those are the bad ones being sent out. But, regardless they're being silly by not exchanging the product or even giving me a discount for a proper crafted one. Seriously though the one i have has clearance problems from the exhaust studs.. no biggy i can get some bolts but losing up to 9mm in diameter on the runners is just unacceptable. knowing i'm not the only person that's happened to and there's no final inspection on them is enough to turn me away from the company for good. :notgood:

Dosage

Do you have any comparison pics of the runners vs say a EVOIII cast or something?
