Is there going to be a significant difference of power between a tubular exhaust manifold over a 2g manifold on a 16g turbo running 16-18 psi?

deffinately not worth it. If you want a better flowing option than the 2g you can get an evo manifold, or Slow Boy Racing has a really nice cast manifold that is molded after a ported evo manifold.

Tubular is going to outflow your Evo3 any day of the week, but on a b16g, there's just not enough air to matter.

Well obviously the tubular will flow alot better... I'm just giving options on manifolds. If someone is asking about a tubular manifold for a 16g then they haven't done much research. I was just helping out by giving options. For what it's worth... people run 11's all the time on 2g manifolds.

People have gone a lot faster than that.

Would Running A Tube Header With A 14b@15 Psi, .020 Bore And Heads Ported W/valve Job Do More Harm Than Good?

Yeah, it will crack before you will ever be fast enough to take advantage of it.

FYI - I watched Daryl Hudson go 9.8x w/ a crap launch on a 2g mani and a bone stock head.

I've watched friends go 12.4 on stock exhaust, therefore, stock exhaust is best until mid 12's.

No an exhaust is not best until mid 12's. An exhaust is one of the first things you wanna get on a turbo dsm. so your turbo can breath a whole lot better than the stock exhaust. that car probably would've went 11's if it had a full exhaust. just curious what did your friends car have that got it ito mid 12's without exhaust?

Seems kinda pointless to run a manifold like that on a turbo that small at low boost levels. 14bs really don't lag and I see the most gains from these manifolds involving spool up times.

He wasn't saying stock exhaust is good for mid 12's, rather making a point. Just because one car with one set-up runs XX.X @ XXX.XXmph with this one part doesn't mean mine or yours or anyone elses will achieve the same results.

If you need to get a new manifold, think about getting a tube one. If the price difference is large, than don't get it. A tube manifold is never going to hurt your performance, never. Good tube manifolds will outflow any cast manifold out there. Also, if you get a good one, it won't crack in a week. You probably won't have any problems with it cracking. It's the shitty thinwall mani's that crack, weak welds, etc. Bottom line is, it is more expensive. Sure it looks bad as hell and flows a ton, but for a 16G it is not completely necessary. Then again, if you got a chance to grab a good one for a deal, get it.

Obviously sarcasm eludes you.

Hmm... Well since everyone is into making points here I might as well point out that by saying I saw a car run high 9's on a stock exh. manifold I was simply making a point that it can be done, has been done, and will be done again. And the author of this thread surely doesn't need a tubular exh. mani. if the 600+hp guy's don't need it. But let me say this one more thing. I think alot of DSMer's shelter themselfs from the world of improvements by invariably sticking with their tried and true factory components when they could be trying "new" (oh crap I said it) things that might even be able to draw even more performance out of their existing setups. I definanately can see both sides of the fence here myself and just so it's clear what side I'm sitting on I can say I'm only in the 11's but this winter I will be building a equal length tubular manifold for my car.

At first I completely disagreed but then I thought more about it and I now believe you're correct. Even two cars w/ identical setups won't neccesarily achieve the same results. The key variable in any race car's performance is how far the builders/tuners head is shoved up their ass at any given moment.

Definitely, I have known many heavily modded slow DSM'ers....Getting into the high 11's is relatively easy, it's when you wanna go faster in a street car you start to look a new paths, not often walked. Its more fun IMNSHO.
