So I go outside this morning first to test the turbo for shaft play, then to replace the hacked MAF in my GSX with the stock one from the Talon to see if my GSX ran smoother. While out there, i decided to take pictures of everything I had questions about in my engine bay:

Firstly, the MAF. I can only say the one from the Talon wasnt the same as the one in the GSX. Since i have no idea what is going on, ill attach some pics so you guys can tell me what is up. The first few pictures are of the two MAFs. The hacked one is from the GSX, while the unmolested one is from the Talon. The last pic is of the plug that connects the hacked MAF to the ECU.

The next two pics are of the turbo and MBC. I stuck my fingers in there and turned the turbo, and felt NO side to side play and NO forward to back play, and the turbine spun freely. I had to check to make sure it was working, but that thing looks brand new. Is that the stock turbo??? Also, what kind of MBC is that, and which way should I turn it to increase/decrease boost?

Next picture is of this little plastic blue thing that is wired in, but isnt connected to anything at one end. Simple question about that: what is it and what does it do?

<a href="http://www.ringo.com/photos/photo.html?photoId=249154243"><img src="http://photo.ringo.com/247/247520785RL929576892.jpg" border="0"/></a>

I need a boost gauge, and i know I need to tap one of these lines, but which one is it. theres those 2 that are very visable on the side, and im pretty sure i leave those alone. Then theres 2 that are shielded by that rubber stuff, one is black with green stripes (visible), then below that one is a black one with red stripes. Which one should I tap for a boost gauge, the red one?

<a href="http://www.ringo.com/photos/photo.html?photoId=249154260"><img src="http://photo.ringo.com/247/247520809RL631625285.jpg" border="0"/></a>

This last one focuses on the pipe running from the intercooler to the intake manifold. Im thinking thats not stock. Also, that orangish stuff close to where the air can would be (if i had left it in) was where the boost leak was a few days ago. That thing is tightened down very well now.

What that looks like to me, is some has added some sort of fog lights or something to that sort. Because all that is, is an in line fuse. Normally found at waltmart. I have a 1991 toyota pickup and when I first got it there were atleast 3 or them under my hood. Everyone of them were not connected to anything....

1. I have no idea about the 1G mafs
2. Never seen that boost controller, would guess that counter clockwise lowers boost and clockwise raises. Get a good boost gauge and try it a little each way.
3. That little plastic thing is an in-line fuse holder that someone put in there as part of a fuel pump re-wire. I would check your fuel pump assembly in the back to see if an extra relay is baxk there that that power line would have connected to.
4. Don't tap your boost gauge into any of those lines. Tap it into the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator at the drivers side end of the fuel rail.
5. That is most certainly an after market upper intercooler pipe. It looks pretty nice and it seems that you fixed your boost leak.

The molested maf is from a turbo dsm the unmolested is one of two its either from a galant vr4 or a colt mirage turbo, assuming its a 7 pin plug not a 6 if it is a 6 pin its a non turbo maf.

Ok, when adjusting the MBC you say "a little". Is a little a quarter of a turn, a full turn, or just a tiny little 1/10 of a turn?

take off the intake tube and take a picture of the compressor wheel and then take a picture of the numbers that are stamped onto the compressor cover (the silver part the intake pipe attaches to) and I'll tell you what turbo it is. Looks to be in good shape though, the turbo..

The digits stamped onto the outside are 'TD05H' with a little engraved 'X' after the H. Too cold out there now to get a pick of the turbine wheel. What does TD05H mean? Is that stock?

The TD05 Stamp classifies a few different mitsu turbos (TD05-14b, TD0516g, etc..) theres usually more stamped on the compressor housing to further identify (49178-01030 being the mitsu p/n for the 14b) It looks like a 14b to me, but you can verify by looking at the compressor wheel, which will have single blades if its a 14b and they'll be paired up if its a 16g.

Heeeeey, its 4g63. Yer on the mitsu forums also. Anyways, how should the MBC be hooked up? And also, which way do i turn it to decrease boost pressure?

All manual boost controllers are basically the same screw in increase boost screw out decrease. there should be a little bleed off hole on one of the nipples or in the line that goes to the actuator side.

I would say turn it half a turn to be on the safe side if it was my car. And keep an eye on the boost gauge. If you have a logger I would run that and watch for timing being pulled as that would indicate that your car is knocking.
