Ok I have a 97 gst. I installed a hallman mbc, boost gauge, a/f gauge, 1g throttle body, and upper int pipe today. After everything was done i took the car out for its test run. First of all the check engine light was on. Next, its like the car wont boost or something. Its like the turbo will start to spool and then it feels like as if something just all of a sudden clogs or plugs and keeps the turbo from continuing to spool. I'm pretty sure I have everything hooked up right. The a/f gauge is working properly. The boost gauge shows that there is a vacuum and it seems to be reading the boost but the car wont let me boost enough anyway like i said. The throttle body seems to be working properly. And I cant even get the car to run right to even test the mbc. I mean the car will drive fine untill I start trying to let the turbo spool up. One end of the mbc is going into the wastegate and the other is tapping into the hose right after the exhaust manifold. I tried using the bov line but same outcome. Please help me out here. By the way, only other mods I had prior to all of these are dp/tp, and intake w/ piping.

so let me guess you took the boost controller out of the box and bolted it on. why don't people ever test things like that to set them before they go on the car. next read directions, then check to see what the check engine light is for

I thought these forums were to help people who know less than others on a topic to get help. Guess you didnt have anything better to do than to waist your time on posting your message.

ya dude that def wasnt a nessasary post.....help sumone instead of bashing them....

for the MBC, took mine out of the package and put it in, thats a very VERY easy install even for the first time DSMer. your check engine lite mite be on because of the 1g throttle body, throw ur stock 2g back on there and see what happens, i dont think the TPS (throttle position sensor) plug for urs is the same as a 1g. now as for the studdering when u start to boost is most likely a boost leak. check all of ur fittings and go from there. def bring ur car to auto zone or wherever and get it check engine light checked, they have the loggers at autozone and it will tell u whats wrong. but i hope i was sum sort of help, let me know what else is up

Either help when posting in the technical sections or don't post in them at all.

To the thread starter, You have issues with your MBC and it's a possiblity that it is installed incorrectly or either it's bad, maybe you tapped the wrong line also?

I had this happen a while back to me and it led to that or it can be a bad coupling for your intercooler pipes (which I've had this also). The car feels like it wants to boost the gauge reads it fine but once you hit it the car falls flat on it's face...

Sounds more like a boost leak to me.

Soloution's To Try:
1- Check your intercooler pipe couplings and make sure they are on tight and NO HOLES in them.
2- Remove your boost controller from the equation.
3- If doing #2 still don't fix it then you may want to try #1 again possibly more.

Goodluck.

I REALLY appreciate your help 98REDG'S, and InjenTalon96. I got the car to stop falling flat on its face whenever it tried to boost! It turned out to be a problem with the uip I bought used. I put the stock one back on and the car boosted fine. I guess I learned my lesson about buying used parts. The check engine light is still on, I think this is related to the 1g tb I put on. I used the tps sensor off of my 2g tb and put that onto the 1g tb. At least that is what it said to do in the walk through. I cant see anything else I could be doing wrong with that mod but im pretty sure the check engine light is related to it. Im gonna put the 2g tb back on and see what happens. Other than that thought the car is running fine now. Im boosting 11/12 psi without a boost control because the one I had listed a prob w/ was no good. It leaked or something because no matter how i turned the knob i was boosting at 20psi!!! LOL!!! Obviously that isnt safe so I quickly stopped that and just put it back to stock untill I can get another one. Once again thanks guys!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

remember counterclockwise on your boost controller decreases boost. Also, sometimes you need to reset your ecu after throwing a code as it wont go away until you do. Reset it and if it comes back on, THEN you can confirm you even still have a problem.

I recet the ecu and the check engine light went off for a lil bit but came back on. So ya i still have a prob somewhere and i believe its in the 1g tb i put in. im just going to put the 2g tb back on and see what happens then. i heard that you have to play around with the 1g tb alot when u put in on as far as getting it to work right on the 2g vehicle. Your tsp, iac, etc...I mean the car is running fine besides a wierd idle when it is cold but that light is just annoying because i know something is wrong you know. Thanks a bunch though! :thumb:
