I tryed to start my car a month ago, and it wouldnt start i had a friend jump the car, and it started. I let the car run for about 45 mins then turned it off turned it back over, and it did nothing. Today i decided to take the battery to autozone they charged it said it was bad. Bought a new battery installed it went to turn the key over made no door open ring sound only light that came on the dash was the door light turn the key to start the car, and everything went black. Tryed to hit the car with the jumper cables and it did nothing just made the door lights come back on until i try to start the car. If someone could give me some ideas on what might be going on with the car i would really appreciate it.

Still looking for help so feel free to post more

I had a similar issue with my 2g and it turned out to be a bad ground to the firewall. I know I know, you have looked them over and they look alright (amirite?) but mine looked fine too, but it was frayed at the end and not making a lot of contact.

Check it out, report back.

I just went out moved the wires around some, and put the key in, made the door sound turned it over, and all the lights on the dash came on turned the key to start the car, and everything goes black until i get out and jiggle the wires again i havent heard the car try to turn over still ; ;, but im closer i guess LOL

I had the same problem and it turned out to be corrosion on the wires, it actually wouldn't carry a current because of it, cut about 4 inches of loom off your wires and let the word itself soak in water with baking soda, let them dry, re loom them, tape it up and reconnect them. It can't hurt.
Good luck

Sounds like a bad ground somewhere.

My ground i can wiggle it off i know this sounds stupid but do i need to tighten it down more? the bolt is a little rusted, and was like that when i got it. Worked with the other battery that was the same thing as the new one

Get new connectors and replace your old ones or sand them and clean them up. Also is the car turning over at all? Could be your starter is bad if its not even clicking or anything.

I am guessing your starter is shot. You should test your alternator also though.

If you can wiggle the connector off the battery it's to loose. try tightening the bolt down. If you can't tighten the bolt down anymore, then replace the connector. If the lights on the dash are on, then go off when trying to start it, it's either a loose wire, bad ground, or the starter itself. I'm not saying those are the only things, but those are some of the main reasons. I had the stud on the starter come loose in the inside of the starter causing it to do what your car is doing now.

How hard would it be to replace the battery wires. I went out, and looked around it didnt seem like there was really much too it, but it looked to easy to be true. Could someone help me out with this too please
